    Adv rides from North Shore?

North Shorean here, just wonder if people could give me some good ideas for shorter rides (ish) between the shore and Wellsford. Gravel/dirt roads.

I'm not familar with many of the gravel roads other than the Mt Auckland walkway road from SH16 over to SH1 or Ararimu road that eventually becomes blackbridge road.

Anyone want to draw on a map or give me the street names of some nice rides around here?

just north of wellsford is Topuni Forest. Doing a bit of exploring up there over the next few weeks to prepare for an exercise we're doing in there later this year. Keen for some company!

If you want to go for a swim, the road out to Tawharanui (sp?) Regional Park is a nice ride.

Ah yes. I concur Sunday mornings are good write off mornings. However there's nothing more refreshing than a good Sunday Afternoon ride in the fresh country air (unless you're behind some dickhead insisting on roostering you...)

Make a loose fist with your left hand.

Now insert your right index finger in the hole made by your fingers, thumb, and palm.

    Pull finger part way out.

    Push finger back in.

    Repeat several times.

Now does that remind you of anything?

    Rogering.

(Or self-abuse, for the deprived, I suppose...)

I often rock up the back of Riverhead forest, its a pretty quick loop with a bit of gravel (getting less and less, but still some there).

Click here for google maps route.

Any narrow road should be enough of an adventure for you and your two wheeled tank

I'll probably do my usual Saturday or Sunday Morning (at this stage probably Sunday, as I'm only flying back into Aucks from BrisVegas around midnight on Friday) easy ride around the hills north of Silverdale /Orewa. As it's my local area I usually go via Waitoki / Wainui onto Weranui Rd/Krippner Rd, etc. towards Tahekaroa / Waiwera / Puhoi, depending on the day, from there onwards down Woodcocks /old Woodcocks Road or so & on towards the back end of Warkworth, or possibly westwards towards Kaipara flats / south Kaipara - to a large extent a simialr route that we rode with Crisis recently (North Auckland Gravel bash thread)

By & large gravel /metal with the odd bit of tarseal (some nice & twisty) - most of the times I probably do somewhere between 80 & 200 easy-ish kms - just depends. I usually ride alone because I don't normally plan ahead, but just go when time & activities permit - you are however welcome to join & tag along if you want to see & learn a few of those routes - how does this Sunday morning sound?

Lemme know if you're interested - will keep an eye on KB from time to time
