Just think of it as a Public Service.
    Well, that's why I always lane-split!
    Coming through . . . performing a public service here . . . let me through . . .

I thought that all bus lanes were for bikes unless its called a "bus service lane", there's something in the road code about it...

Reckon its a cool thing to lane split because you a) don't get held up by traffic and b) don't hold traffic up but extending the queues - apparently its part of the rules in the UK that motorcycles are encouraged to lane split.

I only ever do it when traffic is stopped tho, there's allot of cars that wander all over the lane ...

I don't think it is in the road code. I do know that the Auckland City Council have passed a by-law allowing bicycles & motorcycles to use the ACC controlled bus lanes (not to be confused with the Transit NZ controlled transit lanes on the motorway) except where specifically prohibited.

I don't know what Hamilton's by-laws say about motorcycles using the HCC bus lanes.

    Bus Lanes

I think motorbikes should be able to use all bus/bike lanes. We are not only taking up less space, damaging the roads less and holding up less traffic, most of us are ... well more environmentally friendly then 1 fucker in a 5 seater (or more)car!!
