hey guys, im keen to tag along and come met ya's sometime

im mates with zerax and have a road legal 04 xr250 with knobblies, although no licence yet... hopefully sit learners soon haha.

Moved to chch a year ago and have mucked around in the waimak and leifield beach/pub ride and a couple of trail rides. Even took zerax out to mccleans island last weekend for his first ride on his new wee beast

riding hard'ish my bike gets 120k before hitting reserve, might be similar for your crf Transalper?

If you're going for distance you can go in via Dickeys Rd, Coutts Island Rd, Lorimas Rd where the shingle starts. It's just shingle stop banks and roads for a bit, then Trail and 4x4 options come and go and come and go..... I just remember where the gates are a lot better when going up stream on the south rather than downstream on the south.

Your more than welcome to join us. You know how to get to the meeting place? Over the old bridge and first left when heading north.

    Cheers R

The Old Waimak Bridge. If you travel up Marshland Rd straight through it becomes the Main North Rd (Not to be confused with the Motorway) past Kaianga over the old Bridge. If you glance left going over the Old Waimak Bridge you can see the Motor Way bridge further over. Hook a left immediatly after the bridge ends and go over the hump toward the boat ramp area.
If you were to miss the turn you'd find yourself going past the garage (i think it's still there) and eventually be in Kaiapoi.

Sounds like a good thing to do on a sunday, count me in. The bike needs a good run. From memory last time i went round this loop it came out at about 140km.

Pit lane do those bling 'carbon-fibre' ones for around $30 per pair. You know the ones, Mattsdakar? You can pick out the route of our West Coast ride by following the trail of broken ones.

had a great day out there today - just went up the north side and back but added a little bit more on the gorge end past woodstock downs until i could get no further - didnt expext to see another bike there (bmw 650).

the road is packed hard so you can get along quite quickly - near the end had a black ktm adventurer in front of me and i couldnt catch him - damn he was quick. may need to trade up again

have a great day tomorrow out there - wish i could make it

had the camera on the wrong setting but here are some of the views u will miss out on if u dont go....

Good to see you're up and mobile again.
Shame I can't make it.As much as I hate my bike,I do miss riding it.Withdrawal symptoms I think.

Took a lot longer to fix than i thought but back into it now.
Make Cynna an offer he can't refuse for that nice looking XR he has!! If i wasn't moving house i might be in for an XR650 myself. Either that or wait for the KTM 690's to start popping up at a reasonable price second hand.

If I was going for something else,it's going to be a DRZ400,bit lighter and more capable for when I do trail riding than the XT.Not that the XT isn't bad offroad, but trying to pull/push 175kgs out of mud and picking it up 5 times in a day isn't much fun.
