Plus you know we like riding all the back roads up here on our sportbikes. Needed another bike for the longer trips. Nothing wrong with havin 2 bikes.

...........Fishing with dynamite, I have to stop

I have ridden a V-rod and I was mightily impressed. Nice bike, the only cruiser on my desirables list.

Don't do it! I know you're upset right now sixpack, but punishing yourself by buying a hardley wont help matters.

I think the put-downs on the Harley owners comes down to envy. same as the rust-bucket owners complaining about the BMW's and Mercedes' owners. If it makes them insecure then they bash it.
I'd be keen to own a sports bike if they were comfortable. Although they do give off the image of a someone still living with his parents.

Why, when you have such a sorted hardley at your disposal?
Admit it, they corner like shit and to get anywhere near 250kph it would take at least 10k of engine mods (ok, I realise I'm being conservitive here)

Nah, I lost interest in them at the night speed drag wars one evening when I saw a KBer on a Hyosung 650 beat one and come within .1 second of the night rod.
To be fair, they did do better burn outs than the hyobag.

I bought a HD because it suited me and my riding style - ok I am short and slow. I have been on KB for a few weeks now and just dont get the anti-harley thing that seems to be going on.

Would someone please give me a logical debate as to why the negativity?
    Nice thread MadDuck.

Motorcycle cliques are funny things. I am currently on a SV (apparently it is a girls bike) but I have lots of fun on it.

I never thought I would own a harley. I believed the were tractors that handled really badly, would be stolen before I got to the door after I parked it at home for the first time and would cost a bomb to insure. Not to mention I couldn't afford one in the first place.

In the intervening years of motorcycling, harleys have got better (in my rather inexperienced opinon).

Now for my next bike I was looking at a cruiser (again). In the past I have ridden the jap cruisers - specifically Suzuki's. It was the 700 and then the 1400 cc intruder. I have test ridden the big Kwakkas as well. But they are a little boring.

So I thought I would look at the Triumph Speedmaster, and in looking found out the XL1200C was about the same price as the Trumpy. So next year I will have a decision to make.

I also understand the Sportsters are girls harleys - I can only imagine what is said of the speedmaster.

So no matter what you ride - someone is poking fun at it. For me while it is good natured it is all good. And if someone is really serious about it, I just nod, smile and ignore the fuck out of them.

At 40 degree lean angle and 59.8" wheel base it's got to be the best handling harley by a long shot.

Yeah I haven't ridden one yet but the big block riders seem to look down on them. Horses for courses too. Seems like on NZ roads the Sportys would be a great choice.

Err, wrong, wrong, and um, wrong.

    Nice troll though.

This thread is pretty silly really.

It's all about the ride - whatever floats your boat.
