Because of a suppression order we are not permitted to disclose what almost everyone in Central Otago already knows. But here in Alexandra the most common joke doing the rounds is:

Q: What do you call a cop in court?

    A: The defendant.

What isn't suppressed is information already in the public arena prior to charges being laid. Already discussed at http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...ad.php?t=28713

    Fat chance, buddy!

He'll drag it through the courts, you and I will pay for it and whatever happens he'll get a slap on the wrist with a wet bus ticket. "I was mistaken, I misjudged, it was all a big mistake" etc ad infinitum. Judge will say "naughty boy, say three hail mary's and we'll see ya down the pub".

The youngster has gone throught hell, as has his family, it's no doubt cost them a fortune too and they'll get Jack Shit for their troubles.

I could be wrong in my prediction and I hope I am but this will be a space worth watching. (Not.)

Lying cops and cops up to no good generally seem to be gaining in numbers, or is it just that they get dumber by the year (with the annual intake of well-intentioned but utterly corruptable dweebs) and are getting found out more often coz they're just plain stupid. Maybe they've always been bent and we just didn't know it.

I've heard some great police college stories as well.

Decided to drive through hazzard county today,

(on the hunt for daisy duke)

From Titirangi -> Scenic drive -> SH16 -> Mangawhai I passed 9 police cars - 4 unmarked. Didn't include getting to Titirangi or back to Auckland

I was a good boy and not doing anything too silly so no cause to be 'taxed' but it made me wonder how many burglars, kiddy fiddlers etc..... might have been investigated and 'real' convictions secured.

Goes to show IMO that the priority from on high is to police the road not society.

I may be mistaken and that there were abundant coppers today 'working on the real crimes'...........but being the cynic that I am I DOUBT IT

If by a miracle cops were not allowed to 'collect taxes' then those particular jobs wouldn't exist - there wouldn't be 'zillions of extra cops' solving crimes as some would dream..the pollies woudn't provide the funding.

you forgot to mention the obvious..... ALL 9 cars (that he saw) were out there ALL snaking for revenue....

Considering traffic only make up about 9% of the Police fleet.....

9%? Wow, that's an interesting statistic. Do you happen to know what percentage of all crimes are commited on the road?

Most of em. Driving to the scene and driving from the scene, driving to the receiver or driving to make the drug delivery... just to name a few......

9% was being generous. It's only about 7.5% here in the Naki.

What? That came across like a cop out (no pun intended). Surely you'd know what percentage of all crime in NZ DIRECTLY involves breach of traffic laws?
