Totalitarianism (or totalitarian rule) is a political system where the state recognizes no limits to its authority and strives to regulate every aspect of public and private life wherever feasible. Totalitarianism is generally characterized by the coincidence of authoritarianism (i.e., where ordinary citizens have no real significant share in state decision-making) and ideology (i.e., a pervasive scheme of values promulgated by institutional means to direct the most significant aspects of public and private life). Totalitarian regimes or movements maintain themselves in political power by means of an official all-embracing ideology and propaganda disseminated through the state-controlled mass media (like the speed kills campaigns), control over the economy, regulation and restriction of free discussion and criticism, the use of mass surveillance, and widespread use of state terrorism. State terrorism as in terrorism committed by governments and quasi-governmental agencies (police) and personnel against the general populous.

They’re not interested in reducing the road toll, or solving real crime, not interested in preventing child abuse, or wife beating – it’s all about continually putting us in our place, reminding us of their totalitarian powers, repressing the common people in order to maintain their hold on your minds, and ultimately their position of power

This thread has taken more twists than the Aka's on a good day !!!
One minute we're talking about a cop who didn't give any quater to the OP when he caught him doing 84 in a 70 !
Next it's how the police aren't responding to calls or clearing the backload of cases !
Then we are suddenly run by a totalitarian government who are trying to keep us down trodden !! (prolly by ticketing us for exceeding the 70 km limits they seem to have everywhere)

Haha most fun i've had in three weeks, reading this !!!
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

And is there any reason why it shouldn't continue?
The clever cut'n'thrust of witty repartee...the airing of personal agendas...the schoolyard encouraging of the combatants...the posturing due to injured pride...even some sensible musings.
    Ahhh. KB at it's best.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Apple pie? Apple pie? WTF? I've missed something.

I knew about the sheep. And I knew about the chicken. (And the fish, and the goats of course). But I never heard about the apple pie. Did the pie have cream on it? (beforehand, I mean). Spill the story, don't keep us in suspense.

Y'know , I've never been keen on fishing. Cos whenever I tried it, I'd spend hours and hours sitting around without any sign of a fish. Waste of time I reckoned.

Then a few weeks ago I got inveigled on a fishing trip. More waste of time, I thought.

But, I ended up catching three fish! Big schnapper, very tasty , too.

Well, I was a bit astonished by that. How come suddenly I know how to catch fish?

    The boat skipper dude explained.

Go where the fish are, he said, and it's very good odds you'll catch one. Go where the fish are not, and it's very unlikely you'll catch any.Secret is not knowing how to catch fish. Secret is knowing how to find fish.

Reckon y' cop had been talking to that boat dud

cant start splittin hairs as to how far the law can be pushed. does sound unfortunate but start letting people off 200m from open road signs and they will take another 200 insisting its only 200m outside the law.

Actually, in the real world, the line is at the sign.
