I was sent on a mission to go into the city and collect something for my wife this morning.
Had the camera with me....

A blue dome day in Wellington and over the hill today.
On the way over I took note of the water reservoir just past Te Marua at one of the entrances to Kaitoke Regional Park, and stopped there on the way back for a picture.
Over in Featherston there are two hotels and pending what your riding plans are, then a coffee, or snack, or meal, they're worthy of a stop now and again.

This Sunday there is a Ulysses ride to ANZA Motorcycles at Palmerston North but the weather forecast is not looking good. This morning I walked the dog, took the daughter to school, and could not but admire the sunny day and no wind. So a bit of an each way bet 'Guy, ride up today....'
The pictures show:
A wonderfully still inlet on the way across to SH1.
A 'where will you be when you clock 40,000km? Answer: Going through Waikanae."
An excellent cafe in Shannon, particularly if you like a good meat pie, the selection is very very 'country' and a tough choice. Eat and enjoy.
And, the motorcycle dealership in Palmerston North ANZA Motorcycles.
I left at 10am and back home by 2.45pm spending 30-40minutes in Palmerston North.
On the way home I added up my riding distances on the four bikes since May 2006: have just completed 65,000km.
If the weather suddenly changes for the better, could be encouraged to ride up again on Sunday.

Though it was a bit cold this early morning the sun was shining brilliantly on Wellington Harbour and then a ride across to Makara and up to Plimmerton.
To get out to Makara leave Wellington city and carry on out through Karori.
The road will be quite winding in places. You will have only a short ride from the road out to Makara Beach, doubling back to the main road turning right and carrying on to Johnsonville.
From Johnsonville a ride up SH1 past Porirua, and not far, less than a kilometre, from the Shell Service Station at Mana, heading north, you turn off left to Plimmerton.
Today the views across to the South Island were very clear indeed.

Look forward to this summer and rides around the greater Wellington region.
