yup - well set back from main road. Slightly out of town so no locals wandering around

I'd still be chaining my bike to trailer and locking trailer to car though

Yep, a couple of us trailer fagotts have left vehicles there before and Nicki at the camp ground is happy to keep an eye on them for us.
Here for a good time, not necessarily a long time

There indeed is a bridge that crosses over the upper Whanganui from hwy43.
It becomes Paparora Rd, (mainly sealed), which has a gravel road,(Te Maire Valley Rd) off it about 1km from the bridge. This road doesn't appear to join up with Whanganui Valley Rd.
My road info source is off 07 Land Info Map 1:50 000 scale.
So you might have to use the Hikumutu-Owhango gravel road. (still an excellent bit of metal)
If I get a chance I'll do a sorte, or contact the Tauramanui roading dept.
Confirmed today that Te Maire Valley rd doesn't link up with the route on google maps. Sorry.
But I have found a few more possible play areas for this summer
The scorpians prevented me from getting too serious, but spring/summer should have the area dried out. (bloody clay)
Doubt that I will do all the areas you guys have planned, and I won't book accom until the very last minute as things are double booking on me.
Here are some pic's from today.

Thanks for the recon mission. Will map out a new route when I get a few spare minutes.

I am thinking I might change my accommodation plans for saturday night, and move on up to Taumarunui and stay with the rest of the group.

Devil, Johanvr are you guys keen to do the same?
Stick with staying at the Owhango hotel for friday night tho.
