Haha. It's more to do with front/rear weight balance, and generally only becomes a problem when the front wheel is a few cm off the ground, or comes down crossed up. My old 99 R6 needed it because I'd lowered the clamps on the forks by about 10mm to get better tip in, which then meant it was a bit nasty without the steering damper. But you already knew all that.

Increasing the steering head angle doesn't necessarily equate to quicker turning, but boy does it add to the slappers and twitchiness... I haven't owned a bike in many, many years without a damper (excluding the CBX from this, it has the geometry of a cruiser and doesn't need one).
It’s diametrically opposed to the sanitised existence of the Lemmings around me in the Dilbert Cartoon hell I live in; it’s life at full volume, perfect colour with high resolution and 10,000 watts of amplification.
