Yowzer! I was looking over my shoulder when I copped the biggest hit on my helmet, glad I didn't cop that one on the face. Some of those hills were so steep & loose, it's the first time I've watched rocks rolling down the good line towards me!

Priceless! There were plenty of "WOO HOO!!" moments, more as I got used to the bike and could attack with a bit more finesse.

    Topo 23rd in class - 81st of 95 overall.

Interesting that the Lifan 200 took 1:18 to do his first (and only) lap whereas I took 1:25. I got up the hill before him and he never passed me.

No XR650 to be seen in the list, therefore i win the over 600cc/"silly fecker on a silly bike class"

I would love to see what my actual in motion lap times were as they include fuel/rest/drink breaks in the pits which i reccon were all greater than 4-5 min some much longer.

Looks like we were the only pre '90 racing so we win the "lack of suspension, brakes and ground clearance" class.

Definitely suspect, trimming 25% on the last lap. We thought you were out for mid-40 mins.

They were having some fun and games recording the times - shame really, the computerised system is supposed to cope with it.

I know I was a lot faster and I was buzzing after but not that much quicker.
I was standing and pulling 2nd as much as possible on the climbs instead of sitting in 1st but that would only gain 3-4 mins.
3rd instead of 2nd down some of those long downhills.
    43-44 mins at best.

That lap felt good. I knew there were only a couple of others that could possibly be behind me so didn't have to worry about being passed and just enjoyed it.
No dust, no traffic, no pressure.
I was hitting apexes properly and wheelying off bumps like I hadn't and should have all race.
Even the muddy section I finally went on the left and couldn't believe how much easier it was than the right.

I'm getting hyped up just typing this

Have I mentioned it was a fun lap?

    When's the next one!

Yep, each lap just got betterer and betterer. Mid-way through lap 2 I'd learnt the bike and the track, and was able to pick the areas I could attack harder. By then I was thinking/planning about the bike and the track ahead, rather than wondering and worrying and being caught out by the bike's characteristics.

    Awesomely fun day

Just proves what they say: you don't need new/fast machinery to have fun!
    Cheers,
    Colin

    Was there. With knobs on.

Did a clockwise loop this time. I think anti-clockwise is more fun though.

Went up a vaguely familiar feeling bit of road only to come out to the other side of the Scout Road washout

Did a nice bit of 0.75 track too.

If it was a bit wider it would have been single track.

Went onto reserve 500m after I left Topo at the carpark.

The knobblies may not have given more grip today but did give more confidence.
I think I'm going to put the MT21 on the front as the Innova enduro tyre is a bit sluggish with 18psi and the weight of the bike.

    Good fun.

The audio from that camera is crap and distorts even more when I process it.

    Open to suggestions

Who is up for a wee ride this weekend some time? Not too worried where really, but there should be heaps of mud around to play in somewere or other.

Just putting it out there too give time to plan etc as we don't often give a lot of notice really now do we.

Possibly Sunday, doesn't need to be knarly.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........
