I have a Shoei Hornet and like it. I was lucky enough to buy it when the NZ$ was way up. The peak is a little short, but you can bend your neck a bit more and it will still do the job. The ventilation is excellent and mine came with a pinlock, which is also nice.

I don't care much for the internal visors, because I wear close fitting, tinted safety glasses underneath. Wearing these, I can happily cruise at 80-100 km with the visor open. I now have a second, amber coloured, pair for those overcast days. It works very well for me.

Also, I wanted a white helmet and there aren't that many around. I figure a white one will be easier to spot when I am parked half way down a bank.

The Hornet is still quite a bit cheaper than the Arai or BMW versions and I found it very comfortable.

I am in the market for a new helmet and these are on my short list. How is the noise level of the helmet. Have you ridden the bike with another helmet for comparison. The Basic should be a fairly quiet bike as it has no screen to cause buffeting.
    Cheers Phil

I use it on the 1150 as well. The System 5 I have is not nearly as comfortable as the Shoei. The noise level of the Shoei acceptable, but I use earplugs on longer rides. I also use this helmet daily for commuting.

Thanks. I wear earplugs all the time as well, although it would be nice to not have to. My Helmet short list is Shoei Hornet and Schuberth C3. I have always had a helmet with a peak and its almost a neccesity when riding into the sun, especially with a dusty visor. The flip front might be nice and the Schuberths are meant to be the quietist of the bunch.

The C3 is nice and its got the built in visor, but it's also very expensive. Might be cheaper to import one.
