Swing arm spools

Just got myself a rear stand and opted for using the swing arm spool set up instead of just resting on the swing arm.

Getting to the point, ive put them on, and they stick out a fair bit.

Im thinking are they going to be a problem when i lean over on a decent corner. In relation to the rear wheel and foot pegs they stick out further than the footpegs and the exhaust, and they look to stick out a bit further than the frame sliders up the front on the chassis.

Any chance of clearance issues?

You serious? They are usually only about 30-40mm long.

Did you get them from your local Harley dealer by chance as the skulls on the end could produce clearance issues!

Might be easier if i take a photo tomorrow arvo after work and let you see.

They are easily longer than 40mm. Im thinking around 50-55mm. Its just because its so low on the bike that although its a short length it creates a bigger angle against the rear tyre.

You could get a couple helpers and lean the bike over statically to see just how much of a lean is involved before they touch. Probably more than you think. I'd expect it to be damn near horizontal.

I thought about doing that. But would really want to be sure that my bike wouldnt be dropped testing the angle. Only other thing i thought of was get a long sheet of mdf and go from the front to back tyre and then angle it until it hits on it. and then cock my head sideways and think the mdf is the road. and figure my angle from that

I'd be keen to see these photos. How big are these spools? I've never thought any spools would come close to being the first thing to hit the ground. That MDF idea seems a pretty good plan

Yeah i gota pick up some mdf next week. Dont need to do any spirited riding before then anyway so wont be a problem.

Spools are decent size. Look a bit like a frame slider to be honest lol.

You'll need to be getting your elbow (or ear) down for those to cause you any problems me thinks but stick the photos up tomorrow anyway

Just park your bike on a piece of string.
Leave bike on side stand and tape the string onto spool tip.
Then you can have a good look at angles.
I think that pilot power 2ct were advertising lean angle max of 48degre if that helps.
