    Well ..... you don't seem to mind riding "gay" maxi scoots .... given the thousands of kms of riding the variety of maxi's, you have just fessed up too ...... ??

    And ..... you do seem to frequent the scooter threads, maxi scoots included .... ??!!

    i dont mind riding them...but to own one.....

    thats just queer!

    boi racer scooters are cool, powerstanding jogs etc...

    this is a writeup i did half a year a go

    Radically Simple, the Honda DN-01 test

    Quick spin

    There is no denying Honda’s new DN-01 is an ambitious move by the corporation, as is their statement that it will “change motorcycling forever”.
    What makes this motorcycle so different is the way it acts as a bridge between the traditional cruiser style, and the super scooters of today.
    But to ride, this bike is surprisingly entertaining.
    The transmission is what sets this bike apart mechanically from any other bike out today.
    HFT is a hydraulic system rather than a CVT belt system which is used in most modern scooters.
    The transmission is always silky smooth, even when pushed to the redline in the optional “manual override” mode, which is similar to operate to a tiptronic system on a car.
    The transmission also has a drive and sport mode.
    On drive, the power is very soft, it gently comes on and off.
    Sports mode is excellent on the twisty roads, giving good throttle response and better engine braking than any maxi scooter I have ridden before.
    Ground clearance is an issue however, I found it easy to touch down the “hero blobs” on the footboards, but the bike remains stable and planted whist doing so.
    This may be because the suspension is surprisingly good at soaking up bumps in the road whist still giving a firm enough feel to the bike whist cornering hard.
    Part of the stable feel that this bike gives will be from the long low design, which brings me to the riding position.
    To ride, this bike feels very neutral, and the riding position also feels very much the same.
    It has a very natural feel to it, you sense that you can just relax into it and let the bike do the work.
    The biggest impression that the DN-01 left on me, was how safe it made me feel when riding it.
    Its all so easy, the ABS is foolproof, I could not get the front or back to lock, I jammed the front brake on as hard as I could with a pillion on board, and the bike stops very quickly with just the clicking of the ABS to be heard.
    This could save the inexperienced riders life when faced with a evasive manoeuvre.
    So will the DN-01 change motorcycling forever?
    Bikes with ABS have been out for a while now, the only new things are the transmission and the styling.
    I find some of it to be a nice touch, such as the single sided swingarm and the headlights, but the rest is all a bit unusual for me.
    I would be surprised if the styling catches on, but who would have thought 20 years ago that a bike would be made like the DN-01.

    Ok ... a couple more additions ...

    I have just had my GPS installed, Oxford heated grips, and a new Givi screen to replace the stock model.

    All of the additions are really great.
    The Givi screen is so much better than the stock item. I am really pleased with the difference it makes. A lot quieter, much less turbulence (none now I think ... ?). Hands have more cover now. I had it shortened by a local glass co. and they polished the edges so it looks like a real professional job. They cut it to the same shape as the Givi came in, just a few inches shorter so I can still see over it. It works well for me.
    What I have noticed is I now feel a very slight pressure on my back, when travelling at 100 KMH. The pressure increases slightly at 120 - 130 KMH.
    Thats not something I have experienced before, but it's fine.

    The GPS is handy, fixed to the middle of the handle bars, with a small hole cut in the plastic for the mount to come out. I just used the standard Garmin mount that came with my GPS, and I have used before on a few bikes.
    It is close at hand, and easy to read. The big advantage is that I can now see what speed I am "actually" doing, rather than relying on the inaccurate MPH / kph dial !!
    Actual 100 KPH showing on the GPS, is showing 69 MPH on the speedo. 50 KPH GPS is around 35 MPH on speedo.

    The heated grips are nice on wet days, and I used them travelling to Auckland and back on a couple of days when my son was in Auckland for surgery recently. There is plenty of adjustment available, and thay can get pretty hot !! I didn't wind them right up .... but imagine if you were out in winter in the South Island, these would do the job real well !!
    I got the control installed in the left hand top compartment, so it is out of the way, but easily reached while riding, to turn on/off or adjust the temp.

    So yeah .... I am really happy with the latest additions.
    I am really enjoying riding this scoot. It will suit me for a long time to come, I'm sure.

    I have several times on this forum implored anyone to tell me how a piece of machinery that obviously has no sexual organs can be gay.
    Anyone who is so disillusioned as to think so is in great need of psychiatric help and should get to a counselor as soon as convenient.

    I can't see any 'sign' of sexual persuasion on either of my scoots .... and haven't really thought of either of them being "gay" or "straight" ....

    Funny what some people think about machinery. I would think you would really need to feel sexually inadequate .... or at least unsure of your own sexuality ..... to "bother" attributing any kind of gender or sexual identity to a machine that you may, or may not choose to ride ?

    But there you go .....
