That estimate is screwed up.
My GPS routeing software estimates 98km and 1 hour 15 minutes.
I consider that much more accurate. Maybe add 15 minutes for group dynamic and new riders.
Anyone wanting to go a slightly shorter easier route could go straight up SHW1 (80km/1 hour) and meet the rest there.

It doesn't actually take that long (2 hours max) and we'd come home straight back down the highway, which takes about an hour. It's still a long one in terms of the rides we normally do, so fair enough.
