I know of one project a guy did on a dirt-bike, he got two PERM-132s in to it, motors about 18kw each! Dont know where he put all the batterys but it sounds like its a bit of a weapon tried to get some more info on how it goes, but havent heard anything more.

Interesting info cheers. Be interesting to see the pricing on those batteries.

I spent a good amount of time in China this year also. We have a factory in ShenZhen. That place is a mad house.

Did you build your own motor controller?

I'm currently working on my own one, I wouldnt recomend it unless you want to learn how it all works etc. If you just want something to do the job, buy an already made one.

    Got some info from electricmotorcycleforum

There is another option we are offering. If you need your Headway cells faster, we can ship them air freight from China at $95. The same prices on our website are valid.

    Headway 38120S 10AH at $17 each
    Headway 48v 10AH Battery Pack w/BMS at $349 each
    Headway 48v 20AH Battery Pack w/BMS at $699 each

We also have two different Headway charger options available.
    1) 48v 2a for $36
    2) 48v 6a for $78

    Contact travis@evcomponents.com to order.

Price breaks for loose cells are as follows:

    1-100 cells = $17
    101-200 cells = $16.75
    201-500 cells = $16.50
    500-1,000 cells = $16.25
    1,000+ cells = $16.00
prices are usd and i doubt the shipping cost would apply to here, but gives an indication.

got a link for that dirtbike project, http://evdrive.com/Emoto_project/moto_project.html looks like its only 25hp, must have loads of torques though! cant figure out what motors its got.

I reckon they are perm 132 motors in the evdrive bike. At least, the shots of the back of the motors look right.

Looks like we're going to have to do at least a modification of the controller we have. It's a Kelly controller and is supposed to be 300 A, but we're not getting all of that at low speed. Apparently, that's well known for Kelly controllers and if you want a 300A controller, best to order a 400 or 500 A. On the positive, it is easy to configure and has a desktop interface and a fair few battery voltage/temperature protections built in. So, we will keep all of that and just upgrade the MOSFETs and capacitors (and maybe go to water cooling) and see if we can get more amps.

Interesting information on the headway battery prices, Bogan. Looks like about $2k NZ for a decent sized m/c battery pack.

They'd be great for around town.
Saw heaps of electric scooters and electric pushbikes in Beijing.
Otherwise.....where's the noise, the drama,........I think I'll stick to an explosion motor for now.........

To get that authentic motor noise maybe you could just put cardboard held by clothespegs in the spokes of the wheel ....

Will they last a 30min plus 2 lap moto, at full race pace.

All good and well its fast off the line, and into the first turn, still just a toy, couldn't see them doing a GNCC
Why would you ride that long and that gnarly stuff if you don't have to, Its what we do, we love it.

they wont take off........who wants a bike that makes a chain rattle noice.??...if no-one buys them they'll never take off. The only thing their good for is noise restrictions.......i could have a mx track in my garden and ride it at midnight...

not sure on that, would be pretty close if not there though. There was a 24hr race, batteries were swapped out when depleted so im assuming they would last a decent amount, swapping batteries every 10 mins would kinda defeat the purpose of a 24hr race. Also worth noting, only one bike shat itself during the 24hrs (motor issues), one other didnt finish cos someone forgot to tighten the suspension bolt .

might i direct you to the poll, seems the majority would have one once thier performance is a good as petrol bikes.
