Can anyone remember if Hone was parts of his mums little enterprise at Carrington / Oakleigh. That lot have been rorting & abusing the public system for years, only thing that has changed is they are a bit more cunning. Still mudguards, shiny on top , shit underneath .

The Race Relations Commissioner says Hone Harawira may not have broken the Human Rights Act by making racist comments. The Te Tai Tokerau MP is meeting with Maori Party officials today to discuss an abusive email he sent defending a trip to Paris.

Commissioner Joris De Bres says the act sets a very high standard in terms of freedom of expression. He says the prime responsibility here is for the Maori Party to uphold its values as a parliamentary party and as a representative of Maori.

Mr Bres says more than 20 complaints have been laid with the Race Relations Commission about Mr Harawira's email, and each one will be looked at individually

So essentially this means it's okay to be racist against whites....in essence we are looking at institutionalised racism.

Agreed on the last part, try saying stuff like he said the other race around, jeez you'd you be hung out to dry by the government and all the PC softies. Interesting what is "freedom of expression" or whatever they said is ok... howecer this is far from finished me thinks. Might be interesting if he just loses his job with no more official punishment. Michael Laws is slightly different, he's just sick of all the bull shit, when the whole whanganui thing came up a few years back he did the democratic thing and held a local referendum and 90%? of voters said no, case closed, but then it got dragged up again on a national level, and he thought haven't we already been here? didn't the people voted no? and then he had to deal with every know it all in the country that thinks not having an H in the name is another way of whitey trying to keep them down, i'd be sick of the bull shit too if i had to deal with it daily like that.

Hone on the other hand is just flat out ignorant and hates white people, kinda funny he would choose to visit a white country that was just as bad as England for colonizing places, mainly paid for by white tax payers, and then come home and insult all white people for his trip,... most people would say thank you

To be racist it must have a VERY knock your sox off effect on a specific person. Thats why Jackson et al can say that a maori saying something like white trash isn't, but if shoe is other foot it is. It's about cumulative effects.

As Europeans are not generally denied jobs, entry to rental property etc due to an accumulated bad name and prejudice, caused or perpetuated by accumulated slurs and insults inflicted by a majority group a negative comment is not considered racist (worryingly disempowering in impact).

For Hones comment to be found racist it would need to have real impact eg a young guy says he raped you because Hone who he thinks the world of told him whiteys are worthless.

Freedom of speech comes with higher responsibility elsewhere - as to close the loopholes like this it is not racist / sexist / ageist IMPACT speech etc that is banned, it is hate speech full stop. I would possibly like to see our rights strengthened by the addition of a ban on hate speech - at least by leaders and public figures.

That would stop Laws and Hone and suchlike all in their tracks.

I'm gonna stand up and say I wasn't bothered by the remarks Hone spuoted off. I'm not one of those who makes a profession out of being insulted by every little reference to my cultural or ethnic background. In fact, it wasn't a racist statement per se. He said "White motherf...ers" Not "all whites are motherf...kers." There is a difference.

I am bothered by the shit that people, including the race relations officer are saying to avoid the unfortunate discovery by mainstream NZ that yes indeed, there are racists in every race.
