    HERE IT IS.

When: Saturday 14th November (reserve day is the following Saturday in case of rain)

Where: Starting, Dairy Flat Autobahn (point A) ending Auckland Domain (point B).

Time: Assemble in the car park of the BP/Burger King/Autobahn from 9am onwards. Please make sure you are fully gassed up, fed, watered and relieved before 10am! All facilities are onsite for your convenience.

    Depart: 10am

This is a rolling protest ride covering the wider Auckland area, point A to point B, non stop.

Please bring your flags/banners/noise makers etc. At all times this ride will be orderly and law abiding. We are NOT deliberately setting out to inconvenience the motoring public of Auckland. This is about making our presence felt and a chance to express our angst about this psycho levy proposal.

We will be using the standard rules around riding in a group, staggered formation please.

The speed out of the Autobahn car park will be slow until all bikes are on the motorway and grouped together, then a maximum speed of 90 kph will be adhered to on the motorway system at all times.

    Please register your attendance here

Teddy Bear run for Heart Children

'Please ensure that teddy bears are brand new then put in a plastic bag'

This Protest Ride will now include 'Heart Children'
A Teddy Bear is required to hand over at the end of the ride.
    The Media will love this.

There will be Protest Resources avaliable for purchase at the Domain - Fundraising to support the Protest (War Chest)

Not sure that we can (or would want to) discourage people from taking part just because they can't/won't buy a teddy. Maybe we should let people make a (folding) cash donation instead if they can't bring a bear

Maybe a ride leaving the Souf and crossing with the one from the norf?

And it doesn't stop anywhere. No aggro.

Unless the bikes have pretty big signs how will Jow Q. know what it's about?
Didnt think it making the starting point was that hard, on the 17th, those from Northland are leaving real early to make the start, thats commitment. Last weekend, hundreds (possibly) rode a fair distance to get to Manakau, thats commitment. The ride details stand and if those that cant make the start for whatever reason can join on at any point.

    On the signs thing?...
This is in the first post...Please bring your flags/banners/noise makers etc

    Exactly right.
Just turning up and supporting the ride on the day is payment enough.
Its a visual ride as much as anything, lets get out there and be seen, be noticed, banner ya bikes up 'Lets Protest'!

Maha - what about the flyer idea?

anyone else know any good places to distribute them - of course we need bikers other than KBers to spread the word...

I'm happy to print a couple-a-hundred or so so long as the big old laser printer in the garage fires up. What do we need on the flyer? I guess we need some ACC guff, Maha's info from post #1, some info about the charity component and maybe a map?

Any chance they could publicise the "bear run" on their website?

Sorry - it's a bit hard to schedule things to suit everyone.

Feel free to buy a bear and let someone else take it on the ride for you, though.

    We're not fundraising - we're bearraising.

Flyers are a great idea, to much 'guff' on flyers and it gets a bit crowded and not everything is taken in (much like Post #1 of this thread, some tend to slim read) so with that in mind, the bold part of your post would be suffice and I thank you for your ongoing support around the whole ACC thing.

Monitoring?....we are keeping them up to speed with whats going on, by phone and by email. We have already changed the route once, and thats another reason why the ride wont morf into anything else. Any crossover Protest ride from where ever, wont have anything to do with this Protest Ride. Any help from the Police will be done from this end.....

Mom will slip off the end of the ride at the City after the north western leg and go to the Domain.

    Arrow

The only thing that may change is the speed (lower if anything) depending on the size, keeping the ride together is achieviable if the speed is controlled. Rather than get onto the motorway and hit 100-110 asap (which means those at the back then have to do 130-140 to catch up) the speed will be increased slowly.

I've got a couple of non KB workmates interested, but one would not be able to make the start.

Is there a procedure for riders wanting to join the ride while it is rolling? I'm thinking of an approach that the TEC's would control somehow...

I'm also personally reading this thread about riding in a large close bunch with interest, although the scale will be different...

And I have a 200cc Vespa I may be willing to loan to someone in desperate need of a ride. PM me if interested.

    Cheers - Chasio
