The meeting is about climate change, so it is relevant to us as bikers.

It particularly gives us an edge with the concept of "greater good", the one the DomPost so lovingly attibuted to mountain bikers as they get fit.

I would certainly be asking Mr. Smith how he reconciles the "public good" of a low emissions motorcycle with an ACC levy 3-times what he sticks on a Hummer.

Id also make sure all the delegates and attendees really appreciated a bit of good old fashioned exercise.

As all the car parks for half a km were full of motorcycles.

Or better - cars with a sign - "I'm doing my bit for Climate Change, cos Nick Smith took my motorcycle"
David must play fair with the other kids, even the idiots.

I'm not clear why thre is such argument here.

The Nickster is the enemy. Right ?

He's going to be publicly accessible, at a *National* party meeting . Right ?

    So, it's a legitimate target.

And, it's about climate and environmental change stuff. So, we have a legitimate interest.

"Dr Smith , is it not hypocritical for you to pretend an environmental concern , while at the same time you are trying to tax motorcycles, with their significant environmental benefits, off the road ? If you really cared about the environment you'd have come here tonight on a motorcycle instead of in a limousine. Two tons of unnecessary wasteful environmentally hostile steel to carry one person. How can you justify that Dr Smith?"

"Blah blah balh weasel weasel weasel "

    "BULLSHIT BULLSHIT BULLSHIT"

    Meeting breaks up.

    Done.

    See you there.

No! That's where I think people are missing the point. The National Party (and their supporters) are the enemy.

The intention to privatise ACC was quite overt prior to the last election, what has happened is no surprise at all.

Peter as a member knew damn fine well what he was supporting and he will continue to promote a pro-big business and anti-people (biker) party regardless.

ACC may be an important issue for bikers...it's also an important issue for sexual abuse victims who now (aside from the existing barriers) have to be diagnosed with an axis one mental health diagnosis to even be considered for treatment / specialised support.

I really hope people are enjoying their $12 a week tax cut

Many of us here voted National. I didnt, but I respect what others do even if I dont agree with it, as I do things others dont like. I think for the sake of solidarity, unity and strength of purpose, we should agree to disagree for the sake of our cause and for the success of this protest action.

The red vrs blue punch up could be postponed to a later date? Cmon, the bigger man is the one that lets it go, for the common good.

Imagine how it would look if opposing political party bikes got into a scrap with the media present.

    DONT FUCK IT UP!

Are you telling me that close to half the NZ population 'are the enemy'? And, that will include a significant proportion of motorcyclists who will not support protest which is tainted pink.

If you want to maintain broad support for the campaign then keep the eye on the ball and minimize politicking.
    Here for the ride.

Sorry - but the issue is political like it or lump it.

And no, I don't necessarily consider every National voter to be the enemy. Some (like Peter / Bummer) are - as they know exactly what National represents. Others are simply stupid / politically ignorant and they are redeemable

    Hey Drummer,
    Couple of things.
If I were organizing this meeting, and had been monitoring this site, I would have moved the meeting by now, or set up some contingency plans. Any info available?
Also, how are you managing on the inside? The local Nats must have your number and be giving you a hard time, or are they really just a bunch of fluffy, wonderful people who forgive and forget?
Anyway, are we riding down in a bunch (if so when and where) or getting there as we can?

I think get there as you can, as soon as you can for the most part. Fill all car parks with bikes.

Would also be nice to give him a little motor cade, bikes all around him in his limo on the way to the event.

Does anyone know where he is coming from, what time and the like?

Would be a real shame if a bunch of learners were in the way, taking it slow, and a couple of alternate routes were blocked with broken down cars.
Life is a like a box of chocolates; People are like Onions; The key to success is.......

    Fuck it, let's ride!
