Made it to the Puhoi Pub

I am not particularly to the harbour bridge on a windy day, and I wasn't going to pass up going to Puhoi, so jumped on bikes Saturday morning, and headed north, not a long ride about 88km, but roads I don't know and wind.

The bummer was didn't even go to the pub!!!!! GO FIGURE

I was on the motorway today,it's really rather scary with heavy winds,I prefer not to use motorways at this stage.

When its windy like that you need to create a low profile,
lay down over the tank and tuck in behind your fairing or screen if you have one and try to relax ,dont stiffen up ,it just takes a bit of getiing used to.

Try not to pull in the clutch emergency brake style either when you get a particularly heavy gust of wind. The final drive/flywheel combo (I believe) is creating a gyroscopic force which is helping to keep the bike upright. Cut that off and you will become a lot more unstable.

You can always go up the North Western and take the Upper Harbour Highway if you don't feel like taking the bridge..... quite a bit longer but safer if you are not used to the wind

I am pretty good in the wind now, but my bike is light, and a cruiser, if I was on a sports bike different story. Took the north western, then highway 17... albany highway etc... nice fun roads.

I did the bridge today also, its no different on a sports than a cruiser, possibly easier on a cruiser???? I just hunker down, keep the throttle on and go. Stay loose and let the bike move then bring it back if it gets too far out.

Its lots of fun!! At least you were out in this weather, the only way to get used to it is to ride in it. Cant let it stop you too much.
