    And so the bonding begins

And so the ER6n has gone to a happier place, its new owner is now in a state of pure and utter rapture!

And now I am the very proud owner of a Triumph Speed Triple 1050

It’s a mid 2007 model. It had one previous owner, bit of a nana rider really, never so much raped the arse out of her, nor attempted wheelies, stoppies or even a burnout

It has some lovely bling, ………
    Ohlins rear shock,
Full race tech fork internals including springs and gold valves (done by Robert Taylor at ckt),
    Mivv titainum exhaust,
    BMC air filter,
    Triumph seat cowl,
    Triumph belly pan,
Pro taper fat bars (mounted on triumph fat bar risers),
    Renthal bar ends,
Stomp Grip traction pads mounted on tank,
    Tank pad,
    Clear alternatives intergrated tail light,
    Small front indicators,
    Triumph valve caps.
    Radiator and oil cooler guards,
    Headlight protectors,
Custom number plate mount with led bolt lights,
    Running metzler racetec tires

It was a given that it had to be lowered. I could only get one big toe to touch the ground.

So I hired the services of Nodrog Racing, he promptly gets busy on lowering the Trumpy, and as a little girl waits in fervent anticipation, he drops the front forks about 25mm and lowers the rear almost equally so. That should do it me thinks!

Before he had put the last shiney-tool-thingie down, I was all booted up and ready to hop on.……………………..
DAMNFARKARSESHITBALLSMOTHERFARKENARSELICK …..I hate being a shortarse. Two big toes down, “THAT’S IT!!! THAT’S FARKEN IT?” All that sweat, swearing, and tool slinging for an extra farken toe!!!!
“Is this actually doable?” I say
“Yes dear” Nodrog says with a glint in his eye.

Thanks to the wonderful world wide webby thing, a lowering link had been ordered and was due to land on our doorstep in a few days. Happy, Happy, Happy. Joy, Joy, Joy.

And so a little girl waits…..

The link arrives and Nodrog is already installing this little hunk of steel that is destined to propel me into a state of exquisite riding ecstasy.

Saturday morning arrives and the last bolts are tightened and so I gear up. A ride to the Okororie, what more could a girl ask for. To be absolutely honest, my sphincter was ambushed by a fierce onslaught of spasms, I was terrified. All that power.

Off we go, poor little Nodrog was glued to his mirrors.

Please forgive the crude “bike review” that is to follow, I am far from experienced at this….

Although you can’t compare a Speed Triple with an ER6n (it's all I have to compare) I found the Trumpy far superior….no surprises really. I was absolutely astonished at the engine’s smoothness, and throttle response. As smooth as a baby’s botty I tells ya!! Even when I chose the wrong gear on occasion, I only felt a mild vibration on my bum bum, as if the Trumpy’s engine was politely nudging me to change gear.

The brakes … farken hell I just need to look at the lever and they are on..…bloody marvellous!!

And the handling….I have read on here that some have the opinion that it is not “flickable” Well I am only assuming (as I know jack shit) that because of the bling and the setup that the previous owner festooned upon it, that this is most definitely not the case. I turn my head and it follows, it feels planted firmly on the road and holds the line without fail. Poetry in motion.

I am a mere n00b and still have much to learn, but I am most certainly looking forward to my long and lustful journey with my Trumpy

I will post up some picks for droolage pleasure tomorrow

No not from Trademe, was purchased near new from AMPS in Aucks by my man almost two years ago. He almost put it on Trademe so I guess you could say I saved you a sulk.

    Bitchin'

nice write up. You can get used to the "I can just get a big toe down if I point my toe like a ballet dancer" but getting a foot down is also good!

    nice bike, I'm jealous too.

Yes and it is something I will most definitely have to consider, unfortunately the belly pan is decidedly close to the ground, not really an issue at the moment but as I get used to her and start leaning her more this may be a real problem.

It actually looks very different after being lowered it has lost a little meanness unfortunately. I have to dredge up some that Gordie took prior to it being brought down to midget level.

Oh I can certainly attest to that I went through slippery road works heading onto the Kaimais and light showers on the inaugural ride and I still had a big fat smile on my face!!

Kewl. You can of course send your forks & shock back to CKT to lower them internally. I've just done that today for when the R.Tech kits & stiffer springs go in my Tiger1050 it will raise it up so I need to counter that. Probably what happened with yours as the springs in the front a re soft std on the Trips as well I believe.

I decided against the link as it can alter the rate in unexpected ways if more than subtle. Make sure you check it when you fit it, some owners of Tigers have found the hard bits scrape pretty easy. Not sure about Triples but likely the same.

Anyways; - Pics or it didn't happen.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
