Why did they ever stop doeing that. I dont know because i only ever had girls but i think if i had a boy i would of got it done with in days of his birth.

    What's your thoughts
We wanted our son done - but he was jaundiced when born and they wouldn't do it. However, like your grandson, my son was 5 when he needed to be circumcised. Not a nice thing for a young kid to go through, but necessary.

I agree, it makes it worthwhile having it done as a baby, they are less aware of the pain that he did need to go through.

Oh well, all good now though

OK Trudes... Come clean (no pun intended) What does a girl prefer?....

I had no choice, a done deal back then, but I have 2 boys, and now it's not the done thing. Yes, there has been hygiene issues, but with modern medicine and education it's not a problem. Times change and we evolve.

    3. Again there is an assumption that the "medical reason" is something that will afflict the foreskin's wearer. Circumcision can reduce the risks of urinary tract infections. More importantly it can reduce the risk of transmitting some STDs.
In reply to #2 scroll back through the thread where someones partner had it done. I also know of grown men who have gone and had it done. Just because it isn't done as a newborn doesn't then mean to say that you would NEVER get it done if its what you "wanted."

In regards to #3, vitamin C intake can help reduce the risk of urinary tract infections (cranberries). So can urinating frequently (eg: going before you end up busting). And lets not forget "personal hygiene."

In regards to reducing the risk of transmitting some STD's..

I think it's time to leave this discussion to the aromatherapists.

    Cool

Not done, nor are my 4 boys. Never had a problem nor have they.

In my opinion it is like saying: "You will have bad teeth when older as you will not brush them, so lets pull them out straight away..."

AND something nobody has mentioned: There is a bunch of nerves attached to the foreskin that increase the pleasure for a man. And w/o the foreskin protecting the head the nerves and the skin nerves there will get less sensitive too.

And from the feedback I have had there is nothing ugly about my fella.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

Haha just the prick attached to it!

No seriously doing that to an eight year old is just cruel and barbaric.

Did they tell him what they were going to do before they butchered him?

    1. Nonsense. Please explain your appendix.
Surely neither meant nor not meant, just there.
And if we keep being born with them, and they keep cutting them off, and more again are born with them, then perhaps a more robust case should be made, but can't! It's not like we are keeping men with foreskins alive in spite of their condition.

I see only one reason to sever and several reasons not to. This is more tied up in people's belief or lack of choice than they are prepared to admit.

I once had a Jewish friend, pleasant enough, moody and of the aromatherapist kind. She always had this euphemism about being clean. I was single at the time, and I had no idea when she'd relate how she told someone she knew that I was 'clean'. Of course I was clean, I had told her. Why on earth would I have had any idea what she was on about other than general good old fashioned cleanliness.... took me another few years before I twigged what she was implying!

Can't believe I joined a motorbike forum and commented on this but I feel for the kid in the OP. I was done when I was 13, for medical reasons in that I couldn't piss without being in extreme pain. Not sure of the reasons, I know I had been kicked in the nads earlier that night but was too young to understand and you blank it out. I do recall the doctor saying put him in a bath and jabbing a knitting needle in before being admitted. At hospital late at night I recall screaming so loud while my old man held me (shoulders like, not down there) it woke other people up. The pain was something else. Apart from a very slow amputation while pouring vinegar on the wound I can't imagine anything as being that painful.

I won't tell you about pulling the stitches out, the fact that at that age you are starting to get hard ons and all that. All I will say is it is a barbaric practice. Any religion that says it's required is fucked in the head. You should go through life with what you are born with unless it malfunctions and has to be fixed.

I've got an 11 month old boy. There is no way in the fucking world I would consider even for one second doing it to him. Madness. Absolute madness.

Having said all that, chicks do dig scars.

    I had trouble pissing too.

I think i was like 4 or 5 when I had it done. But from what I can remember there was no pain, apart from when i went to sleep and the stiches caught on the bed sheets and shit like that.

Now i think about it. I dont care. It looks alright, works all the same. So its all good.

I think it used to be a "cultural" thing here a generation or so ago - you know the old "circumsised at 8 days" thing.

Personally I see no reason for it at all, unless there is a medical reason.

p.s. I did wonder with the cases I just mentioned first whether it was a "non native Kiwi" cultural situation, especially since the procedure was being assisted by a doctor who isn't even certified to practice here???.....???
Poor kids, Cheap arse parents, not even getting the boys knocked out, Then leaving the boys alone and walking out, gutless. If my boy was screaming, I'd be in the room doing something to sort the doctor out . imagine what that 14yr old went thru.

Like most things, personal preference and depends on how it's used bla blah blah..... BUT personally I found Un-cut better. When they're hard they all look the same (apart from the scar tissue) and Un-cut guys are more sensitive (I don't mean they cry more often)

LOL. I just noticed that when I entered the forum that the 'Are you circumcised?' thread was right above the 'Meat-Free Monday' thread.
