Wet riding

Heading off for a trip this weekend and chances are its gonna rain .
Whats the best thing to use on my visor so that i can see where im going ?

Speed. Keep your speed up around 105-110 clicks where you safely are able and it blows your visor clean real well. The absolute worst speed is about 90k, where the water will pool up real good and block your vision badly.

If you want some product to put on your visor, have a look in the cleaning cabinet and see if theres some pledge furniture polish. If you want to buy something, go to repco and get some turtlewax ice.

+1. Many people use pledge. Personally I try and avoid putting any chemicals on my helmet. Normally you can just look left or right, and the wind will blow any water off.

That's when you want gloves with the little rubber thingy on the left index finger - built in windscreen, oops visor wiper. Works a treat for rain and mist.

Pledge?bugger me.All this looking left n right and waiting for some wind seems rather a rather drawn out way of doing it.Simply lean forward grab the towel and dry said helmet.So simple.

this works, but no good if it's not safe.....

I got a pair of those gloves and it's less effective than using any other part of the glove (and one of the armour pads was real good) - I once had pair with the soft side of the leather facing outwards on the back of the index fingers and they worked real well too

i dunno, my dririder gloves have the aforementioned squegee, it took a bit of practise but i got the hang of it eventually - works reasonably well, main issue for me has always been fogging in the rain

I have always used pledge. When the rain hits the visor, it just runs off in droplets. But yes, you still need to do the old look left, look right trick.

It does your visor absolutely no harm. I wash my visor after every ride with dishwashing liquid too. And its still like brand new

Be careful on the roads this weekend. We were going around the East Cape, but its shocking weather forecasted, so guess we'll be staying home and doing another jigsaw puzzle.....

We get lot's of practice down here in Wellington. Might depend on your helmet as well. With my XR1000 I just give the visor a wipe with a micro fibre cloth before I set out, and that's pretty well it. I have used the pledge on the outside of the visor trick on my previous FFM and HJC helmets, and it works ok

fogging is the biggest problem I get too, and you cant lift the visor to give it a wipe on the inside cause it makes it worse.Anybody have any tips to fix this?

or even better, a pinlock anti fog system.

Pledge, silicon spray, soap, fat, wax, auto polish etc etc... anything that reduces the surface tension of the visor and allows the water to bead and roll off...... and yes head left right combined with occationaly wipe from glove. (just make sure you don't have really old black goves that may streak).

Pretty easy really....

+1 for cat crap, although for a 4-eyes like me you have to do your glasses lenses too! I wondered why it didn't seem to work until I realised it was my specs misting up...
