Once you get your post count up (cant remember what to? may be in FAQ) you will get to see who gives you rep. Good or Bad!

Everyone here knows the risks involved with these things and if it freaks you out then for your own sake buy a car. Your thinking about the safety others? Hell, i'm not thinking about yours and that's the truth of it!

    mmmm!

This ATGATT time thing. All the gear all the time! hahaha oh man when I'm commuting the 15 minute ride to work in the morning i'll wear whatever the hell is going to make me feel comfortable for the other 8.5 hours of the day. Full leathers etc. all the time? Get the fuck out. it's so unrealistic and inconvenient it's ridiculous. The day motorcycling becomes more of a hassle than an experience i'll give it up no problem. When you buy a motorbike and decide that that's that well you either accept the fact that you don't have a tonne of steel around you or you don't there's no more to it.

But it's best to cover your ass and treat other road users like they don't know what they're doing

No one knows what the hell they're doing that's why so many accidents occur. The point is that we do it anyway despite the potential consequences because it's fun. It's something to look forward to before you fall asleep at night or when you've had enough of working. There's so many rules with this stuff already the last thing biking needs is your flakey moral convictions.

To post this and risk the retribution of people who have been hurt or know others who have been hurt or killed while biking? God bless the internet eh!
Do what you want, you obviously have no idea what body damage does to your life.

What injuries did you get last time you came off? How long did it take you to recover last time you came off your bike?

Agreed. One day, sooner or later we will all have an accident. Who is at fault won't matter. I might not see the other vehicle, or may have nowhere to go. I will end up sliding down the road. Covering your arse with protective clothing makes sense.

The rules are there because people lack the intelligence, common sense or care for others to protect themselves (the dummies give the country its average IQ right?). Can I ask a simple question... Would you wear a helmet of any sort if not legally required to do so?

If you had visited a friend in hospital pretty much munged due to a road accident, I suspect you wouldn't have posted this in the first place and wished they had worn protective gear. I won't give you any retribution. You won't understand until it happens to you or a good mate.

PS: I wear cordura that fits over my work pants - so I can be comfortable at work.

If I thought that I would catch a bus. One day I may be involved in a crash, and that's part of the calculated risk you run on two wheels, but "will" is a bit strong IMO.

I agree, though it is fairly likely we will crash its not a certainty, crashing is probably the quickest (only in some cases) way to learn that you are not bulletproof, and also learn the limits of the bike. And also mess up some chrome and ally frame
Better idea is to learn bike limits on track days, and wake up to the obvious fact that 80kgs of meat atop 140kgs of metal, is only good if it stays that way up

you seen how many people have died waiting for buses lately? There's a good chance it wont only pick you up, it'll run you down too, or drag you.

Or a truck loses it's wheel which comes crashing through the windscreen and kills you.
