Good idea, might use that gap filler expanding foam that you can get in a spray can.

As long as it doesn't disolve when exposed to fuel vapour. Could be a sticky mess if it does.
I have heard of ping pong balls used to reduce volumes in the past. Think it was to get the max possible fuel load in a tank down to legal levels but not 100% sure

Does gap filler disolve and is it flamable.............hadn't thought that through, still the ping-pong balls idea looks good.

yep ping pong balls look good, you could number them & take side bets on which one gets sucked into the inlet?

they would be about the same size (as the port ) wouldn't they ????
golf balls would be better they hurt more in case of an explotion (think of the mind games you could play.)

Max horsepower is ALWAYS at the cost of reliability to some degree.
