    Maybe if you actually read the thread, you'll see it was all sorted. In fact that was stated in the first post. And if you had read the first post properly you'll see he's just asking people what their thoughts are on the subject, he's not actively seeking advice. And what red rep are you on about? I bet you've received lots, but you hadn't even posted in this thread earlier, so are you carrying something over from another thread?

    The number of posts I've seen from you where it's quite obvious you haven't read someones post properly is staggering.

    You break it you pay for it in full, unless the damage resulted from a performance defect that wasn't disclosed.. i.e threw a chain, seized gear box, no brakes, wheel fell off.. etc, in which case a fair percentage of the asking price should be negotiated.

    Doing the right thing is a historic but unwritten matter of honour.

    Anyone that truly expects a private sellers insurance to cover them is either naive or dishonest.

    I know that there are people with flexible morals who think otherwise. I spit on them.
    Political correctness: a doctrine which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd from the clean end.

    my opinion, private sale, you drop it you own it. fixing the damage isnt an option for two reasons. firstly, even if you just fixed it, the bikes value in many buyers eyes will belowered aftera(nother?) bin. Secondly, if you werent genuinely interested, and didnt have access to cash equal or close to the full asking price, you had no fucking right to go anywhere near the damn thing as a 'potential buyer' in the first place.
    when I am selling, its agreed well before they arrive the terms of a test ride. break my bike, I KILLLLLLL you!!!!!

    If I crashed a bike I would buy it, hell, I put scratches on a mates pushbike and felt so bad I bought it off him instead of telling him (small fortune it was worth too). I would hope for the same in return, but expect a lot less (I've given people the benefit of the doubt on a lot of things, it would be pretty even on getting let down vs not).

    i lend my race bikes out quite abit to people, nobody has crashed one yet, but if they did id expect them to pay for it. The trick is not to fall off in the first place

    im known for obvious common sense........

    But seriously if people knew how to ride a bike proberly on the road in the frist place theres no reason to fall off your bike......{unless you are hit off by a 4 wheeled hippo, then its not your fault}

    +1

    DB's posts seem to come out of nowhere. It's like a bunch of guys talking calmly, sharing advice, all utopian like, and then BAM, drunken hobo slams his jug on the table and tells everyone they need to start punching each other. Interesting.

    But rather than start punching each other... I'd make sure I was still insured if need be, then tell the test rider "Break it you bought it, show me your license, leave your gf and your other bike me, and see ya in 5."
