He probably has one of those, but had to take his bike, because it got recalled....

Fucken typical wording used by the reporter.........I picked it up straight away.

    QUOTE]

What got me about the wording was it say he got trapped under the bonet WTF?
That was why the car pulled out it had its bonnet up ready to eat the biker.

Also, he was speeding above the ACC recommended 2km/h speed limit, which is also the recommended speed for walking when gardening to minimise the risk of fall injuries.

Lucky he was not carrying a pair of scissors.
Or maybe he just failed to adequately anticipate the car pulling out on him.

Katman hindsight is a wonderful thing. I just hope you are never in the same situation and fail to "adequately anticipate" a vehicle pulling out - we are all only human - even YOU could make a mistake oneday - its true

Don't be so cynical, Katman. That is just absurd it is simply impossible.
Bikers have much higher awareness and safety standard than car drivers. We are just different.

It looks like he put it down before hitting the front of the car, then got "trapped under the bonnet".
It happened to me years ago on a CBX1K, but there was zero time to avoid as I was looking over my shoulder at the time, I went over the roof (no idea how that happened) the bike ended up embedded in the car. So next question.. If you know its gonna happen, put it down or take the hit and go over the bonnet? Bit subjective I know.
    Its knackered!.

Notice the fuckface holding up the Ambo? This is typical of N.Z drivers. In the States they actually pull over as soon as they hear sirens and let them through. Why N.Zers are so much busier and in so much more of a hurry to follow the vehicle in front of them is beyond me.

WTF is with that! This is what it should have said "A late model Holden failed to give way at an intersection and struck a motorcyclist. Fortunately the motorcyclist sustained moderate injuries, however the Police will be laying charges against the Holden driver".

Last week I was riding along in my lane when a little delivery van decided to share my piece of road. I hit the brakes and horn and pulled up beside the ditzy blonde at the wheel, who had the grace to pull over and apologise. I explained that if I hadn't been watching her she would have hit me, and if she had she would be liable for careless use causing injury which would have cost her heaps of cash, plus her license and may even have cost her her job. "I'm really sorry, I didn't realise".

I think if more cagers knew that it costs them big time to skittle bikes they may think to look a little more.
Don't blame me, I voted Green.

Only the blue ones. The red ones (which actually work) are not subsidised by pharmac.

Yep. First thing I noticed as well. I see it all the time round these parts. Too goddam dumb to think...I bet the driver's knuckles have callouses on them...

I doubt it - due to the doeskin gloves - that driver was obviously far too important to pull over for a mere ambulance, in fact how dare the ambulance interuppt the smooth running of their BMW?

Thats exactly right. Even if you are anticipating that car is about to pull out in front of you, short of stopping your bike in the middle of the road before it happens, there is little you can do to avoid it, if at the last second they decide to go.

ive only been in the situation once... didnt have time to really react and took a quick pro/con list of possibilities. i took the hit and went over the bonnet, leaving the bike to its fate. ive always gone with the idea of getting as far away from the bike as possible in any accident cos ive read about bikers being hit by their own rides when sliding. i wouldnt put it down as i hate the thought of being trapped under a hot exhaust.
