So why dont we replace all cops in citys, with live camera feeds. When an offence is seen ... get the rego, and mail the fine. That will save millions of dollars that could be spent on ACC and Welfare payouts ...
That is assuming ALL vehicles on the road have live rego and their address listed is current and accurate.
Anybody driving/riding in such a manner, that attracts the attention of the law enforcers .... usually means they would not want to discuss it with them either. And failing to stop for them would reinforce this thought ...
As has been already posted ... this time the offender was the one who was killed. Others WERE hurt .. and can get on with their lives.
The family of the dead man can only blame him. Although they may blame "police Procedure" ... let's wait and see what the results of those four investigations are ....
At least there will be no long drawn out court-case, with the offender pleading not guilty ....
Enough "logic" for you ... ???
When life throws you a curve ... Lean into it ...
Does that not pre-suppose that the driver will drive in a safe manner if not chased?
I'm not sure that is a valid supposition
it seems to me that in some of these cases the driver would have crashed sooner or later , probably with equal danger to life, even if there was never a police involvement
After all, it's not like they are driving in a safe and inconspicuous manner before the police get involved. Usually it's because their driving is dangerous or dodgy that the police get involved in the first place.

However I do harbour thoughts that by the deceased not being able to use these roads anymore they might be a tad safer.
Oh, and as for his family?
I do feel sorry for them and think of them - a shame he hadn't.
Loser, all he had to do was stop - but he wasn't man enough for that...

Maybe his throttle jammed, his brakes failed and the steering rack collapsed causing the accident. If his mirror had been knocked out of alignment and the stereo was really loud he might not have seen the flashing lights or heard the siren. Maybe the van was on the wrong side of the road or a cat ran out in front of him.
Just a theory.
