See Smokey - you did miss it - It's just messing with Ixion's head. Do it right and you can hear the gears grind. :-)

The one that protects my wife and kids from having trials bikes falling on their heads.

Where does it say I'm limiting fun to organised events?
I merely said he would find similar challenges in club trials events - I did not limit it to that.

The freedom to find, face up to and enjoy individual challenges is tempered by responsibility. Anyone who does these things must be responsible for their own safety and the safety of others - the tourist who goes walking with suitable clothing, the climber who doesn't check the weather and the fisherman without safety equipment - these are all as stupid as Carver.

    I do club trials already!

I did it on a day with no wind, or rain, and went WITH the flow of traffic.
I was in plain sight the whole time, so if people wanted to drive under me, they were welcome to, but it was their risk.

i could have closed the footpath though

    I agree with Carver.

If the 'Wife and Kids' are stupid enough to walk under something that has a high risk of falling, well....

    >> but it was their risk.<<

There's the nub - no it isn't - it's a danger you were 'inflicting' on them.

I've been booked twice for riding on the footpath. The offence was 'failure to keep within lane' or something like that. It boils down to the same deal. Improper use that endangers others is the angle.

I may or may not have done it again since. The difference is I didn't poke fun at plod on you tube.

Personally, if I was the Judge on this case I would've let him keep his licence and not paid any fine or court costs BUT he definitely would've spent a month locked up in a very small cell with a very big Samoan named Sweet Pea and 1x single use tube of KY. That would either teach him a lesson or make him a new lifetime buddy (although Sidewinder might get upset with that).

Btw, it's the legal secretaries that have to be able to spell, not the lawyers!!

ie you weren't stupid enough to get caught.

For me that's the main point about this whole thing. If Carver didn't go around saying look at me look at me, but instead just let things get out on the quiet (including a leaked video) then he'd be an underground hero rather than a twit who got less than he deserved.

Ahhh so finally we get to the truth of the matter. I thought something smelt about the "we stopped all traffic and warned them" statement...

So "we stopped all trafiic" has now become "I was in plain sight / own risk". Hmmmmmm. So it definitely would have been a manslaughter charge then.
