Watch this space; the RMA will suddenly dissolve and consents will be granted overnight. If it were the V8's going to Auckland (man, they dropped the ball there didn't they, pun intended) there'd be delaying tactics all over the show. Coz it's rugby it'll all happen overnight.

There are claims it'll be good for the economy; well when it's all said and done I'll be sure to let everyone know how much better off I am.

In fact, I'll tell you now coz I predict I won't have one extra cent to spend.

It's a load of old bollocks.

The $100m plan was shit. Every design I saw was absolute rubbish.

Auckland has a habit of fucking up major projects cos we (they) rush in and it all turns to shit.

I'm glad they didn't just throw $100m at a useless idea - once the RWC is finished, it'd be useless.

If Auckland had fucked this up (almost a certainty) it would have been a disaster for all time. At least by putting a hold on "Party Central" so that a more balanced plan can be developed is only a good thing, IMHO.

If you ask me (and I'll consider this an implied asking) - they should build a decent cruise ship terminal on part of it and a public park on the rest. No apartments, no major retailing - almost a sanctury in the middle of the city.

... and some more motorcycle parking.... and a burn out area...

Maybe they asked for a marquee and it was misheard as a mark-up?

To be honest it's starting to look like the whole planning of Rugby World Cup associated shit is a fuckup. They have about 12 months to get approval to demolish the existing buildings and errect the new ones. They chose a song to be the 'anthem' for the advertising campaign and everyone things it's shite - how much did that cost?. What's going to happen next? I also see that the tickets, as expected, will be overpriced - so much so that you can buy them on a payment plan over 6-months.

They should fire the coach. Isn't that what they normally do when shit gets out of hand in Rugby?

You're right, the whole thing is a fuckup. why the hell is the rate payer and tax payer subsidising a private enterprise (eden park). that is bullshit. The infrastructure will not be ready in time, so traffic will be a clusterfuck, and the whole exercise will cost nz big time. Im over the whole, but its rugby its the most important thing we have. it's a fucking game!

One hundred million or not Key's vision of 'Party Central' and the subsequent cockups that have followed is a 'glowing' example of how Key and his ministers are managing the country.
