Well bugger me I've had 2 speeding tickets in the last 25yrs, the lesson I learnt was to keep a better scan going, deserved them both 2. Up north here I get stopped for reg & wof regularly, breath testing as well, doesn't worry me if they catch the bugger that was going to cross the centre line and take me out - stop the crap if you got a ticket you deserved it, do a better job of scanning - read be aware of whats going on around u.
Don't judge me based upon your ignorance.

Phew, mate I have to say you have taken the words right out of mouth, I totally agree with your sentiments.
As an old fart, I have seen the change in attitude of traffic officers today, as compared with the 60 and 70’s where as you say they, had the respect of most riders I knew, mainly because of the way they treated us which was with advice and respect for our abilities. If a ticket was given, it was usually deserved.

I have has a couple of run ins myself, because I get bloody angry when a cop displays arrogance, and rudeness. I don’t believe I need to take that kind of shit from any officer, no matter whether he/ she is right or wrong.

Even today, at a check point I grunted at, “warrant of fitness where?” could tell by his voice, $200 was looking good, until I shoved a finger at it.
And like you I rode off feeling bloody angry.

You are right no matter what they say, traffic enforcement is monetary driven it’s not about road safety anymore, it’s about bureaucrats justifying their huge salaries.

To some degree, I sympathize with the cops in the cars, they are basically following orders of the hierarchy, its there that needs to be huge attitude change.
They are losing rapidly, the respect of motorists I believe, and if they want to maintain that, then they need to look urgently at the basic ways motorist are being treated.

Good call, I used to get pulled over so often for the same things (no issues of course) that I cant help but be aware of whats going on around me, my friends think I have an extra scense for it haha...

Your post was reasonably intelligent until you wrote as highlighted, which goes to prove you know nothing at all about what the police doing traffic duties do in their days work.

I am always courteous and polite, and this never deserves, even if I was rude, a response of arrogance and rude behavior.
The police owe it to us, by right, to explain first the reasoning for the meeting, what apparent offence has been alleged, and to ask us for our response and explanation. Education should be paramount over infringement. Lives depend on it.
Also, I don't accept poor recruitment selection/ practice, they should be trained customer service and manners if it is so that there parents dragged them up instead of bringing them up.......
As far as real policing, sorry traffic police don't do real policing, real police solve crime and protect the public from violent offenders and criminals. Traffic police gather revenue for the crown by fulfilling their quota's and harassing those on the roads. They specifically target stereo types, and vehicles of interest.... This by the way is really a form of discrimination..... owh heres a sports bike, must be a law breaker.
.... or there's a patch, he must have drugs......

My respect goes to real cops, who catch real criminals, traffic police don't even make 20% of what the MOT were.... Bring back black and whites. Everywhere else has a separate specialist force....

They ALWAYS have been in any roadside dealing I have had with them, although I don't seem to attract their attention very often

I've only been in the country 6 years, never spoken to the "POPO", I have only been riding a bike here for just under a year but have been driving since the first day I turned up.

I have had some incidents in the past few years which really show a decline in the methods and state of our national traffic policing.
What concerns me, is the changing attitudes and methods being exercised by police officers. There seems to be a strong evidential shift from promoting safe driving practices to un-emotional bitter tasting ticketing.
Long gone are the days where the friendly black and whites would pull you over, explain why they have pulled you over, smile alot, and offer resolve and advice before venturing down the path of issuing and infringement notice. Most of the time there was a bit of grace if it was a minor offence, and a legitimate explanation could be given, even a somewhat humorous one....
Either way, mostly the experience wasn't like it today.
Over the past few years, I have had 4 tickets, as well as being pulled over for supposedly "routine checks" The police officers nearly every time are cold, interrogatory and often look like they just graduated from nappies, and have never needed a shave yet.....
They have the sensitivity and compassion level of a rock, and pretty much arouse more anger than the desire to change our standards and drive safer..... More often, after being pulled over and spoken to by an officer, I either feel mad as hell and want to smash something or someone, or I feel like burning off and showering the AH with shingle.

Why do we have to have such a negative culture of dick head cops, can't they find people who have communication skills, and are actually in the job to make a difference instead of filling there flippin quota's...... there is no denying the lies though, they definitely have quota's and competition to get people ticketed....... bikes are a definite target for these.

rant rant rant rant...... what about driver/ rider education, what about warnings...... where is the grace, what motivation are the police officers actually giving us.
*devils advocate mode* ignore morons like DB. do their job for a day. Id bet if they pull over 20 people in a day, 18 or more of those people, will immediately respond in an aggressive, arrogant, 'what the fuck do you want you cunt pig' manner. Its the attitude of the public that has changed too. if you put up with that shit all day, youd be an asshole when you pulled people up too. Personally, in my communications with cops, I am the politest nicest guy for the first 15 seconds, to show I am not a wanker, and willing to co-operate. if after that, the cop is a wanker, then I become a real difficult cunt, but I dont do so just because I have been pulled over.

often its the attitude of the person who has been pulled over that cops respond to, now yes, there are some real fuckwit cunts wearing the uniform out there for sure, but most of them are just trying to do their job, yet endure abuse and attitude day in and day out. ask yourself this: Think about all the fuckhead, ignorant, arrogant, or downright dangerous cages you see everyday from atop your bike. imagine what wankers they are when they get pulled over. would you be able to tlerate that crap without bashing their face in with a baton? I couldn't. they have a fuck of a job. yes there are the few nazi's, but next time you get pulled up, try and focus on passing the attitude test, you will likely find that that gets you most of the way to getting a friendlier response, and a huge amount more tolerance from the boys in blue...........
    *switching to KB mode*
fuckin pig fucking cunts, arsehole wankers fuckin all of them . . .

one thing i would love is the return of the old days... before radars...
in Nelson, they (the cops) new me by my first name, and most times couldn't prove that i was going too fast.. but when i did get pulled over, i would get the lecture.... and now off you go and don't do it again..!!! pulled my head in for a while.. till next time.....

ah the good old days of the 80's

    what a ride so far!!!!
