The closest free covered parking is in the Downtown Auckland City Parking Building, it is about a 10 min walk to the Microsoft Office. I dont use it but I believe it is free for bikes within a designated area.

There is also an on street M/C park a block away opposite the Air NZ building in Daldy Street - i've not seen this busy and the bike should be ok there.

they do - but it may not meet the first criteria of being free. The area is quite heavily patrolled currently so not sure I'd recommend that.

Saw a small 125 Honda getting a ticket outside the new NZI building last week, it looked like it was parked ok to me, plentry of room for a car to fit into the same area, so asked the "gentleman" what the problem was. I was told that if the bike is in a pay and display park then they had to have had to have paid, the dont have to the receipt on display. If they can produce the voucher on receiving the parking infringement notice it would be withdrawn. He went on to say if the bike was parked outside the marked white line designating the park then it would be free. I just thought what a tosser.

Yep. Microsoft have an secure underground carpark. You can park your bike in there for free.
It's only when you take the piss out of a partially shaved wookie with an overactive 'me' gene and stapled on piss flaps that it becomes a problem.

check with your Microsoft host as I'm pretty sure that it is not generally available for guests or visitors - but being on a bike may make it easier.
