And wherever you buy from, get em to play a blu-ray (I suggest Avatar for best comparison) though a few screens and see if your eyes can tell teh difference, On paper a full HD screen is superiour but twice the price, In the flesh it maybe a different story.
Will give Norman Ross a look see... there's one in the hutt i think. Point taken in regards to on paper etc... some of the upscaling looks stunning... I've got a full-hd media box... just need the TV top go with it (got the amp surround etc...) it does upscale well, but would rather get the native 1080p out of it, make it work for its money... get the best out of my hd-dvd's

About to get Sky installed to, so will probably get HDi... although not sure how much is broadcast in 1080 at the moment...

The best apllication for 3D tv is for gaming consoles.

Almost all games now are rendered in 3D so the transition would be easy.

I might even think about getting one just for that reason alone.
Although Sony and microsoft would charge an arm and a leg for the games.

true, but if kids are already confusing games with real life, the problem will only increase if those games are in 3d. Would be well intense to play some of the motogp series in 3d though

Nothing is broadcast in 1080p, yet. Both Freeview and Sky HDi broadcast HD content in either 720p or 1080i.

I have a non-HD projector in my cave, Though its resolution is higher then the DVD standard. I made the entire wall into a screen, floor to celiing by covering it with plywood, a skim of plaster and then 3 layers of grey paint with a slight tint of blue. Shes the epitome of budget but its damn fine. Paired that up with an Amp and speakers from Trademe, a PC, and a freeview box and I'm set for life.

I use it for everything from surfing the net, listening to music, watching TV, watching DVD's, playing video games.

    The porn is awesome.

    The porn?

Even seen a 6 foot labia?

heh heh heh, You could climb inside.

Anyway, Shit like playing battlefield 2 life size is just a head fuck, Your in a chopper, with a machine gun, the noise is smashing through the room, the gun fire, the engines, as you contour fly up the face of a massive dam, and it does feel massive, and to scale. You look out over the landscape and its to scale.

How about 20 laps of Bathurst, life size, I have a steering wheel mounted on a swivel arm that can be positioned perfectly in front of my huge armchair.

Or watching concert DVD's, Its better then being at the show.

Did you mean "people will take their own glasses when they go visiting"?

That won't work, yet, as there's no real standard for how they synchronise. There's no guarantee that glasses from your Hitsumitsu brand T.V. at home will work with your mates' Kawanagui brand T.V.

There is no way I'm going to sit in a dark room with you lot watching giant porn.

Though funny enough my theatre room has a big set of double doors that open out onto a large and very awesome BBQ area.

I put a bit of effort into building my space.
