Not a lot cheaper now, its the acc part which makes most of the cost up.

You go in on the 30th of June and using the MR27 changing the expiry date of the vehicle license to 30th September 2011 (15 months from date of application) and pay the balance of the period from August 2010 to September 2011 at the old rates.

My rego expires on the 30th of June. Can I go in now and extend it for 15 months from the 30th of June, or do I have to wait until the day to extend it for the 15 months?

If your registration expires on or after that date you are screwed. You will be liable to pay the new fees even if you go in and pay early...

If your registration is due before that date you can relicence using the usual forms for up to 12 months.

Or you can fill in a MR27 for a maximum of 15 months. use of the MR27 will incur a $7.30 administration charge.

So there it is... the hot oil from the NZTA. Please post here if you have heard any different.

PLEASE don't turn this in to a I am paying/I'm not paying debate. This is purely for information of those that intend to pay.
I did this yesterday and bike registered till 18 August 2011. My old rego ran out on the 26th July (I orginally thought it was June the new fees can into acton if I knew it was july I would have waited another month or so... ... ) Total $341.00

You can do the renewal anytime from now as the 15 months won't start until after the expiration of your current period (i.e. after 30th June). I've just rung NZ Transport Agency regarding this as my rego expires on June 12th - $399.74 for 15 months

I went in to renew mine 2 weeks ago at the Postie shop.

They wanted to do it as 15 months from that date and said that I had to lose the 2 weeks. I said no thanks.

Yesterday I did 15 months rego with wof at VTNZ no probs.

I didn't even need to stick the baffle back in the exhaust

I went in to NZ Post Westgate today for an MR27 form, where they told me that I couldn't extend my registration past my WOF expiry date. I then went to VTNZ Westgate, where I was told that this was false, however if I extended my registration I would still have to pay the new rates - even though they hadn't been officially informed of the new rates. Is there a biker-friendly registration agency in Auckland?!

That does'nt make sense...........how could they charge you the new rates if they do'nt have them yet?

Did you ask or just walk away with your tail between your legs?
