Not as gutted as me with a 625cc KTM 640. Makes less than 1/2 the power of the R6 too. Solution is simple: rego on hold over winter. Or maybe I should go buy a 600 sprotsbike as they are much safer. It's bloody crazy that the average power of the bikes in the 500 - 600cc range is probably higher than those in the 600-700cc band.

Shit, that sounds dangerous - better get a CBR600RR or GSXR600 or R6 instead, much safer!

yip, like my 85bhp 185km/h Thunderbird 1600. A 600 sprotsbike will eat me, they just won't look as cool

Which is exactly what I did. Sold the SV650S (50kw) and replaced it with a GSX-R600 (80kw). MUST be safer - the ACC levies are soooooo much lower...

I went from the SV1000 (evil torque) to GSXR 600 (Safe as houses, little possibility of a crash) , but after a year on the thou without a single ticket I got a 100 in an 80 zone on Day 2 of owning Scarlet (and 20 licence loyalty points) ? Whats with that! I thought the 600's were must slower THUS safer?

Lets hope they don't start charging per KW

problem with this whole rego thing is this is the increase we got , supposedly a reduction from the original scaremonger $800/$900 a year they were talking. What they didn't tell us is the rest will more than likely come in over the next couple of years. You heard it here first.
Best thing to do is the rego on hold. If most people do it, the ACC will start to wonder why the fuck they ain't gettin any more revenue.

I still love how there's no official information about what's happening posted up anywhere with DOLLAR figures on it, and everyone's having a fuckin bitch and a moan.

It would seem they can do anything they want !

Next year you will find another massive increase. The reason is simple. ACC have increased prices by (say) 65% for your class of vehicle. They are dim enough to have budgeted on getting 60-65% more revenue. But they wont. Some guys like me will simply ride with a WOF only.

But even the most law-abiding kiwis will try and save money. They will get rid of the second car, and just make do with one.

The problem is, that ACC face exactly the same risk as before, as that one car will be doing all the mileage previously done in two cars. So they have the same risk, have to make the same payouts as last year, but now collect half the premium.

    The solution !

    Put up premiums again !
So Davereid, whats the idea with riding with just the warrant and no reg? You going to just take the ticket for no reg ($200) and reduce the money paid if caught ? G.

Its a bicycle innit, not requiring a licence? I seriously looked at a conversion kit for my schwinn (dont have the money yet) but it had a bunch of Li ion batteries and a 2kW electric motor good for 70kph apparently. Now does that sound like fun or what?

its like how you moan just before you get raped in prison. You know its going to happen, you cant do anything about it, and yet you whimper in anticipation of excruciating pain and having to walk funny the rest of your days.

think 500W is the unlicensed limit, mind you if it looks like a bicycle i don't think the plod will pull you up on it regardless

    And with 2kW and > 50kph it's no longer a moped...

    Wonder how they'd treat it?
