Just not so good for lots of standing on the pegs.

    Gotta get mine repaired sometime.

    Oops...
Accidentally bid on the size 11's.

    Hope he'll remove my bid.
Just got the 12's from him which will be cheaper than fixing mine.

Overlap no probs but I'd like longer pants too.
I'm just not prepared to go to XXXL around the waist to get the length I want.

I too can vouch for the shoei/airoh head shape - I am, like yourself Woodman, a Shoei / FFM head - so (being the tight bustard that I am) went for a FFM Matrix, wore it today for the first time - A couple of things, peripheral vision seems much improved over my road helmet and air flow is much improved, all in all pleased with it and a steal for under 2 hundy! Only thing that grates is that you can only get it in black (or black/white with skulls)

Man you are right about the skulls option
Might try and find one to try on.

Do they think that all adv riders are kids or something? (I know we act like kids but come on FFM!)

Those look sweet. Good buy. Let me know what you think of them. If you rate them, I will put them on my short list. If there are any left in my size that is.

The first problem you'll have is the top will dig into your shin something fierce.
The second problem is the bottom strap thing is a little short and may fall out occasionally when you undo them.

Once you've got them beaten into shape though they're great

A good sole on the buggers and nice to walk in too.

So what are your tips for beating them into shape?

Just wear them. Mine just arrived this morning and I cab't believe how stiff they are. My old ones are like a pair of adventure slippers in comparison.
I may get my old ones fixed anyway as spares.

My shins are wimpering in dread of breaking them in already

    Snow Seal.

Warm them up, apply Snow Seal - it will make them more pliable and improve waterproofing.

I would really like to find a pair that was predominantly leather. With out all this plastic shit all over them. Stiching is a door way for water. Sure the leather boots would be nice if they had some reinforcing round the ankles.

And Oscar, most of these new boots are 60% plastic, hard for snoseal to work on that. (at least the ones I have seen)

Er - my Gaernes are Leather, with some plastic on the outside.
There is actually no way to make Boots 100% waterproof, but applying Snoseal to the stitching is a start.
My point was that using Snoseal or dubbin (on the inside in necessary) will make them pliable.
ADB Mag used to advocate filling yer MX boots up with cheap cooking oil and leaving them overnight to make them soft and comfy...
