Great news that the guy was found safely.

On a slightly cheaper option has anyone thought of carrying a smoke flare? Very small but could come in very handy if lost. I read somewhere on here or stuff that the lost rider heard the helicopter overhead at some stage.

    Thank you all.

I am a friend of the lost rider (and the friend that Nasty referred to in the original post).

Unfortunately I was away on a Military operation in the Pacific and have just returned to NZ last night, hence why I was unable to help with the search, but my son, littlewannabiker, assisted in my absence.

I would like to convey my personal heartfelt thanks to all from this site who assisted in the search from my friend. I learned about the situation the day of the search, and felt quite helpless being so far away.

    Regards

    Ross

PS: I have not yet caught up with him yet, but I will give him shit, as I am now forbidden to get a new dirt bike!!! lol
