XR650r owners' thread

stock gearing on my XR6 is 48/14 which tops out about 135 ive got 48/15 at the mo and its pretty good for open road will pull to 140 before i go Nana when i got her she was on 42/14 which would cruise at 120-30 all day and speedo only goes to 140 so dont know how far after that i backed off when i felt the slap coming on. im going to go to 45/14 which will give me middle of the range with a 13 and 15 to play with and i'l keep the 48 rear for any real offroad weekends.
But that might not help sam since mines a little red pig and hasnt grown up into a BRP

i never came close to keeping up with you when you had the drz so wont even see your dust now....

Ian's just bought a 2008 KTM 950 Super enduro off a friend in the North Is, he didn't really want to sell the XR but I twisted his arm lol!
He still has his CRF450 for offroading/farm rides but will be using the KTM for Dusty Butts etc
Did you manged to get your supermoto wheels fitted to your XR in the end???

na - i had to sell them a few weeks ago. needed some money to fix the 4wd. finally got all the bits together but lost interest and only have 6 months to go to make my 5 points last so didnt want to tempt fate racing round the hills...

Do you guys run stock gearing on your XRs?

Sams has had rego on hold & been just used for motocross/offroad stuff by previous owner.Its awesome in the technical stuff but has no legs on the seal

We haven't checked yet but it could be running on 13/50

Do you stay with 14/48 or go to a 15?

Sorry bout the questions but shes all new for us!

will have to drag mine out of the shed to have a look. have a 13 at the front at the moment but not sure if the rear is 48 or 45 - was much better onthe road with a 14 on the front. need to replace the chain and sprockets soon so keen to hear what others run as well

Ah no, don't proclaim to be as good or as fast as Ian, he's quite a rider but the bike certainly has more get up and go than I am use to, still getting to grips with the kick start, which I see as the bikes only negative

stink!.........I would have put off the heatpump i just brought and grabbed them......dont sell the second big tank, i'll need it for the next dusty butt. Team BRP?

Finally got my arse in gear and fitted my motard wheels to the XR650R. Took a bit of mucking around as rear hub was too wide so had to do quite a bit of work to get it thin enough.
Looking forward to havig some dry roads to test it out
