I must have met this bike cop on a bad day or something and he decided to bring all the guns out fining me $230 for going 27km/over the speed limit, $100 for not having L plates on my bike (Yeah that's my bad there, had my Learners for a year and a half now and sorta threw them out a year ago) then he also fines me $100 for exceeding the Learners open road speed limit of 70km//h... In the end adding a total of $430 for going 87 on the motorway...
Just wondering if there's anyone out there that's able to let me know if he is able to fine me the $100 for exceeding the Learner speed, as well as this $230 one?
If there's any past experiences or know of any of these situations? and is able to help me it would be a HUGE help! Cheers
yeah i know the bike cop who got you, hes a real dickhead.

Regardless of how guilty you are, you have to try.
The “Well you shouldn’t have, suck it up and pay” is often spoken by those who would be the first to jump and cry fowl if they where handed a fine by some over zealous official.
In the future, you will get away with a certain amount, and you will get caught from time to time as well.
But to just roll over and meekly hand your cash without at least trying?
The cop has done his job to the fullest extent of the law, now it’s your turn to put the same effort in to get them to dial it back a bit.
Find a happy medium, you will have to pay, but money it too hard to get to give it all away.
    Good luck.

You do o.O? Past experience being pulled over by him?

Maybe next time I'll offer him some Prozac and directions to the nearest relief centre. See if it makes him a little less uptight

yeah he loves getting people in the 70 zone doing 80. at midnight. Hes got the worse attitude of them all. there's two of them - pommy immagrints with a real bad attitude - "I am the law! You will respect me!"

I was like calm down mate, I know ur the boss. He thought My bike wasnt up to standard and wanted me to rat out my wof guy. My bike was fine - had new tyres and brakes even, but no it has soft suspension ( I told him it made it way easier to do wheelies on, he didn't believe me) and an inaccurate speedo! ha! how many bikes have accurate speedos!

He needs a good slap, and a ticket back to England. And his boyfriend too. ( tried the whole good cop bad cop routine - My mate wanted to add 10km/hr onto ur speeding ticket.....but im the nice guy giving you the ticket for the speed you actually were doing!)

then a few weeks later he snapped me not wearing my seatbelt in the cage (just forgot about it) came with the same bullshit attitude! trying to tell me that i'd die in a minor fender bender because the air bags would kill me....

It was pretty clearly marked as a 60 zone because that is the day that the Newmarket Viaduct was closed for the transition to the new one. All sorts of road cones, signs and flashing light thingamebobs. You must be asian or a taxi driver to have missed them. You must have failed the attitude test I would think to get all those notices. As mentioned, write in and admit to being an idiot and ask to get of the learner infringment.

''if the cop wanted to give out all the demerits he could'' -WTF ??????

Your ticket would only be marked by the cop for the demerits gained by a speeding offence - DEMERITS FOR ANY OTHER TYPE OF OFFENCE ARE NOT RECORDED ON THE TICKET BEING ISSUED TO YOU...

LTNZ attributes any demerits created by other than speeding to your licence...

Well I've had a ticket given to me with no demerits marked, yet i still got them. So can t he cop legally issue multiple tickets? Heres one for speeding and heres one for unsafe lane change - both with demerits?

The ticket didn't have the demerits section on it? That would be a fake ticket, as they are written on all tickets....

If you read the ticket, it says demerits for speeding, and has the demerits to be recorded depending on how fast you go. It is all there for one to read, for speeding only... The cop doesn't write anything about the demerits.

    And for the questions.....

    1. Yes.

    2. Yes. But only the highest demerits for one infringement out of the 2, 3 or 10 you might receive, go on to the "demerit points tally for slow learners" system.... ie: 25 demerits for unsafe lane change, 35 points for speed in the one ticket = 35 demerits on your total, thanks. (Not 60 as some would have you think....) Discount for bulk offending.

thanks for the reply, but what im trying to understand is that the discount for bulk offending is law, police policy or ltnz policy?
