There's a few 'loops' about the place, but also some brilliant 'up'n'back' jobs as well.

Behind Havelock North is Kahurunaki Rd to Elsthorpe/Patangata to Middle Rd return to HN. 120kms?
Or from Patangata, go to Waipawa, then to Tikokino/HW50 back to Fernhill. 180kms
Or from Waipawa, go to Waipukarau, then to Porangahau/longest place name/Wimbleton/Dannevirke and catch HW back to Fernhill. 380kms
No exit roads (that do have links to other similar roads) are Taihape Rd from Fernhill/Omahu, Puketitiri Rd, Emerald Hills.
Round the block is the name sometimes given to Napier/Taupo/ Manawatu Gorge/Dannevirke/Napier). Vinegar Hill to Feilding is the way to go. 650kms.
Over to Taupo then around the lake and back to Napier. 500ish kms
Or there is always Wairoa and back, or on to Gisborne (Tiniroto Rd makes a good loop section). 250 to 500kms
If you are really keen, then from Gisborne take the Waioeka Gorge to Opotiki, then round East Cape and back to Napier (good idea to overnight in Opotiki). 900kms.

    Getting the picture?
Just moved. Came down on the bike at about 1am a week or so ago, so I didn't really get to take in much of the surroundings... I'll have to checkout some of those rides once I find my way around.

    Thanks.

I don't suppose it was you guys who went through dannevirke today, was it? A big group of tourers, a couple gsx14's and a vfr? And of those roads run through Ormondville by the way? Just driving around some of the roads around here in particular seem quite nice, if you can avoid the strange combo of overloaded farm utes and elderly drivers in sportscars?

You'll have to introduce yourself face-like. Unless you're one of those loner-types...
There's some great roads in that part. Easy to get lost though...eh, Wickle?
RDJase is the maestro for directions in there.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Quick question mate. Wheres a good place to get a bike wof? Not going to a vtnz dont want those clowns touching my bike.
I don't think any of the bike shops do Wofs. Get in touch with Dooly. VTNZ are the only other place with bike cert.

Nope. WOF issuer must be certified on vehicle-types and The Napier shops, at least, can't be bothered with the expense - so they just take the bike to VTNZ anyway.

Hmm I see the issue, but i've never been to a bike shop that could'nt issue a warrant but then again then again it's not high on my list of questions when walking into a new/strange bike shop so..

Kinda took me aback too, when I found out. At least (I think) they don't charge the time for doing that...

I dont mind VTNZ. I pull up, they ask is it ok. I say ummmmm yea its sweet. They look for anything that may be loose. Then they ask me to ride it so they can see me use the brakes. Then they issue the WOF.

That bloody Dooly. I take the the bike to him. He says he has to ride it to make sure its ok. Away he goes spinning up the rear with the front in the air. All i can hear is a bike screaming. Then when he comes back and tries out the front brakes with the rear wheel in the air. At least i get the WOF.
Tis a Yamahahahaha G. Just thrash it like you stole it. Gixxer 4 ever
It really did look very unloved. Specially as it was next to the R1 that the whole crowd wanted to look at. Gixxer 4 ever

Hasting Honda in Omahu Rd if Dooly's unable to help you out. I believe they have a couple of guys who can do it.

I'm not sure that he is very well ATM.
