Heavy duty tube. Dropped the pressures a bit to reduce the stress on the tyre. Only seal on the way home. Was more worried about something poking in there. As it happens the split didn't get any larger, & the tube was good when I changed things in Wellington. We thought about putting a repair inside the tyre, but decided that might cause more issues.

I put my spare std 21" tube in, with a few crossed layers of duct tape inside the tyre, and a few layers on the tube at the same spot. Made it the 30(?)km home but kept it gentle. This split was through the cords and they had a sharp edge to them. IIRC it was along the tyre on the shoulder, not across like yours, so probably a lot more open/close flexing.

had the TW-30 in some wet dirt today for the first time..... man what a shitta

i got stuck manoeuvering around the car through the garden

to the shed, had to get the young fella for a push.... clogged up with dirt and it wouldnt throw it off.

By the way, did you make it the 500 odd km home without changing it?

I split my front tyre on the dusty butt repaired it & it went flat because of the split so I put a bead boot in & a new tube it lasted till i fixed it some 500k's later
boots don't take up any room & are easy to fit

Just ordered this from http://www.lmsimports.co.nz/ for my GS800 rear. It cost 222 including freight. I've got a Karoo on it atm which I'm not overly impressed with so I'll be interested at how the Mitas works

Don't use that shit.

It makes a blloody big mess & smells strongly of chlorine. If you haven't found out why your tube died, then even if it does work (which is not often) it'll puncture again. Carry a tube. I'm sure you know how to repair a tyre, if not you need to learn. MarkS found this out the hard way at the last KCAR.

I have slime in my tyres, and yes it is messy.
Not sure whether it has saved me getting a puncture or not. It may well have blocked up a small leak. who knows? How do you tell?
