the aust xrs came out with different gearing to pass the ADR rules

currently running 13/45 which is too slow on the open road - the 14/45 i used to use was more suitable for me so looks like i will go back to that

look like you cant run a 15t on the xr650r with the stock case saver - is that true for those that have a 15 on the front?

I'm running 15/39 and bounces off the revlimiter at a true 167kph. The case saver is still there but had to grind it off just behind the bottom mounting bolt

I run 13/48 on the dirt and 15/45 on my motards, this combo allows me to change wheels without mucking around with chain length, I haven't notice the 15t rubbing on the case saver, but better check actually as I've only just fitted it 20km's ago

I'm stuck somewhere between lack of money and lack of time

Problem also it's my everyday ride so when it's in bits I'm on the push bike
I'm doing a South island loop next month with some mates including Big River and New Creek and Dunstan trail so will probably be after that

    Hey Brent,
As mentioned I now have a Clymer XR650R manual, which incidently you are welcome to borrow (I owe you).

As per manual: Pro Honda HP 5wt or equivalent
Front fork oil capacity - 637ml
Front fork oil level - standard 120mm
    Minimum 90mm
    maximum 155mm

    Hope that helps
    Rgds

Set the level (forks fully compressed and no springs), don't worry about the quantity. Make sure you pump the forks to fully bleed them. Have a look at this vid. For KTM forks but the XR's are cartridge as well.

Other than oil changes Ive been lacking in the maintenance department on the pig. Idle has been a bit "fluffy" lately so reset valve clearances last night and inlets have obviously streched (just like the DRZ) with the excessive revs its pulling on the track (main straight at ruapuna its on the rev limiter) It now starts so much easier and idles stong and even (funny that)

Question is, anyone found a 16 tooth front? They dont seem to be avaliable. I'm going to look into if the 600, dominators etc have the same spline and turn the spacer part off an old one to see if I can fit a 16.....will keep you all posted (not that anyone will probally need a 16, but im limited to rear sprocket due to the wheels im running).
