    Right on.

The idea that criticism of Paul Henry arises from "political correctness" is garbage. It has nothing to do with pc.

The fact is the guy is on national breakfast television where he can belittle others who are not there to defend themselves. This is not Paul Henry saying something in the pub or at the dinner table where he can be as offensive as he likes.

By contrast Newsboy (Jeremy Wells) gets away with much edgier material and no-body gets upset. Why? For one thing Eating Media Lunch is on later at night away from children, and Newsboy has style: just the right combination of cheek and innocence to avoid crassness.

As for Hone Harawira et al - what makes you think what he says is alright?? There has been plenty of critical comment over the years for things he has said and he's come close to being suspended from the Maori Party.

I do enjoy his purile humour and (sometimes) his irreverence towards time, place and subject matter... heaven forbid anyone should actually express their own opinion on an issue... I hope they don't sack him, as he makes me larf so...

The guy is clever and sometimes funny, no argument. His failing is not knowing when funny becomes crass.

I respect him for telling things how it is. At least he has the balls to say what the rest of us are thinking.

I love the distinct mood of those "red" pricks protesting the other day, and it's slightly come up in this thread - "You have freedom of speech to an extent/until it offends me and my ideals"... How is that freedom of speech at all? I guess it's better to be a fascist than racist...

That's a rather presumptuous statement. On what basis do you assume that, besides belligerent arrogance...?

Since when was making fun of someones name considered such a big deal?

No one makes it a race issue when anyone with the name "McCracken" and a suitable first name is mocked...

That would also apply to a photo of the majority of New Zealanders, ie white. By looks alone they could be American, British, European and dare I even say it, Australian !
It's funny, that as bikers / motorcyclists (whatever the current term is), we object to being judged and labelled by the way we look, but it's ok for us to do the same..

Bro, you are a neo-nazi. I can't imagine there are that many New Zealanders of any colour who think the same as your and your nazi celebrating friends, I'm sure Paul Henry would make as short work of you lot as he does of everyone else who isn't just like him.

I'm not a neo Nazi. Any affiliation I may have with neo Nazi organizations is purely coincidental.

I can empathise with him (ooooo a line, cross it, ooo look another one, rinse and repeat) ... but as always, it's the receiver that makes the call as to whether the comment was "crass" or humour... poor JK seemed to fall at the first for my taste. He did realise he was speaking to Paul Henry didn't he...

If people really don't like Paul Henry, then they should just watch something else on TV instead of complaining about it. It takes less energy to change the channel than it does to have a big cry about it.

Then what would John Minto and his merry band of saviors do with their lives?
What would WE do without someone to tell us what is acceptable to watch on tv?

He'd have to go back to being a school teacher, since he's solved South Africa's racial problems he's not got a lot left to do
