dont know address for either off the top of my head, just where they are. ill get some addresses and contact numbers for you.
i think you have to ring ahead for the t.a one, they didnt have an honesty box or anything set up yet when i was out there last, and you have to drive through a farm to get to it. its a really basic track at this stage though, its basically a natural terrain track, its been a couple months since i have been though
you could also ring
Te Awamutu Motorcycle Club
PO Box 221
Te Awamutu
Gayle Blackwell
Ph. 07 872 5597
if you wanted to go out there this week, will prob be a week or two before i see my mate with the contact details of the farmer
Waikeria Track
Wharepuhunga road, dont know number but you cant miss the track, its right beside the road
Awesome thanks bro. Just waiting to pick my trailer up next week and will go check it out.
Ta
not a problem may see you round somewhere
alright then i have work off and everything so this next sat coming ill be down at the track, give the guys a ring and ride TA else itll have to be waikeria but either way im riding saturday
waikeria is the better track and worth the longer drive i reckon
I went out to Heddon Rd today and was very impressed.
Sure the tracks aren't as long as kimmy's but they were nice & groomed without any of those horrible Hard packed continous judder bars.
$10 to ride, plenty of parking, toilet & water. Some nice jumps that give you the option to either cruise or launch & also a couple of harder jumps for the better riders.
I'll be spending a lot more time out there over summer, especially as it's only 20 mins from Hamilton.![]()
could be worth a look, how long would it take to get there from auckland?
The jumps are more your traditional MX style, not really FMX. Really nice flow, Although I'm sure that guys could do some nice whips. Not me though.
There was one decent rider there, the rest were beginner to average & also one female who was getting some nice air. There's a couple of steep climbs which could be tricky for absolute beginners but I didn't see anyone fal off at all.
From Auckland ... Down S.H.1,
turn right at Ngaruawahia (at the BP where you'll also see the Otorohanga turn off sign - Ngaruawahia BP is awesome for Coffee drinks etc...)
go about 20kms to Whatawhata, then turn right & head over the bridge towards Raglan,
Heddon Rd is on the right about 5 mins down Whatawhata Road.
About 1.5 hours total from Auck.
It's a bit of a hike from Auckland and I think you may have better paces closer, but for us in Hamilton area it is awesome to have anything like this so close.
Main track has about 4 different layout options so each lap you can take a slightly different course to keep it interesting.
There is a nice little double & a single straight after which I saw one guy make a nice triple jump.
Check the link seen earlier in this thread for photos.
I was looking for the giant Gorse jump but it was nowehere to be found. Maybe it was out of the main area.
was out there saturday, tracks in good cond at the mo. very busy day, at least 25 people.
flyingcr - its all been toned down now... too many injures. jumps have always been avoidable.
the triple is nasty if you get it wrong, its 4th wide on a 250, or 4th wound out preloading on a 125, it looks deceiving cause its low and long, but dont hit it any slower, coming up short really sucks due to the speed you hit it. i know a guy who broke his back coming up a fraction short.
were talking with pat (the owner) about having a bbq, beers and large group ride out there in the coming weeks with all the track locals - will be a poster up at track when its sorted. ill post up in here if any of you guys want to show up, good to meet (and race) new people!
