    Give them a break!

I would like to see all the gutless whimps that constantly criticize police behind their keyboards try this job. A little less selfish focus on the self-proclaimed right to the roads above all others, and a bit more community spirit would be nice to see, and needed more than ever.

Cops are human and not perfect, but they have a job to do that revolves around keeping the peace both on the roads and our homes when needed. They get held personally resonsible for their actions. Personal responsibility for our own actions - now that is a novel concept lost on the stupid....

    NEWS:
A Hamilton policewoman drew a gun on a group of men assaulting her partner after a Taser failed to subdue them.

A constable was left with a bloodied eye following the fracas, which stemmed from a domestic incident in Fairfield.

A female senior sergeant twice unsuccessfully used a Taser on three men who had piled on top of her constable colleague, beating him. She eventually drew her firearm as she awaited backup.

City area commander Inspector Rob Lindsay the officers were leaving the Marshall Ave address after attending the callout related to a heated argument between the 55-year-old father of the family at the address and his 34-year-old son and other people at the house.

As the police were leaving the father arrived and confronted them.

"A Taser was deployed and used twice on the father [one of the trio]," Mr Lindsay said.

"Despite making contact it had little effect."

The man's 34 and 18-year-old sons joined in the assault with the female officer drawing her firearm to stop them.

"I am very proud of my staff in that they were not afraid to use the whole range of tactical options available from trying to reason with the offenders to using their batons then pepper spray, a taser and eventually deploying a firearm to quell the situation," Mr Lindsay said.

"What concerns me the most is my staff, one of who suffered damage to an eye, were called to the address to help the people there and in turn were set upon by the occupants. This should not just be unacceptable to Police but to the community as a whole."

Three men were to face a variety of charges including aggravated assault and resisting police while a woman at the property was also charged with obstructing police.

Totally agree with you, unfortunately our NZ society, or should I say the minority element that causes a large percentage of the issues we have on our roads and the violence we see in our communities take little heed of warnings, pleadings ect ect.
Until we face up to this and start to insist our courts inflict upon these individuals punishment that they will take notice off we will see little change.
Likewise the police insistence that by stopping us all speeding and drinking will bring our road toll down will not work. The small element that causes the issues surrounding high speed loss of control and true drunken driving won't take notice until the penalty for such behaviour is substantial enough to deter. After all look at the numbers of repeat offenders that continually ignore the law and the minor consequences received when caught.
Don't judge me based upon your ignorance.

This bit equally applies to the teachers!

As for the guy tasered, sounds like he had some sort of immune gene that the taser had no effect on him.

    Yes .. No .. Maybe ...

Yes, we need police, and yes, they are only human, and yes they do a necessary job that not everyone wants ...

No .. I've been on the receiving end of some pretty bad treatment by cops in the past ... unjustified, illegal and not necessary ...

Maybe ... I wish our police were above reproach .. but they are not ..

do you see what the problem is? she only "drew" the firearm.

she would have been entirely justified in painting it. Perhaps a nice watercolour, or even oil painting.

Then she could have shot the scumbags. Three scumbags, two shots each, leaves 9 shots for other scumbags. Provided she could do it without harming the plod on the ground of course.

Agreed... They do have an unbelievably shitty job at times, dealing with the scum that we leave them to deal with. No matter how close knit a community is, these things will never stop happening. People will be people and in the heat of a moment may live to do something they'll regret later, even when officers of the law are involved... they are only human after all...

Fines and laws will not stop these 10's of thousands of individuals that really don't give a shit who you are... in fact in plenty of cases i'd say they'll have the opposite effect.

Bravo to the plod, tis a job I couldn't do.

Why? Where were you and what were you doing to attract their attention? They don't just drive/wander around looking for a likely victim to abuse and set upon them unprovoked. That's what teenage scumbags from South Auckland do...

I'd not be a copper for anything, damn hard job and society has stuff all respect for the Police these days, or has it always been that way? where only the law abiding have the respect and the naughty ones have none, no respect for societies law so no respect for the law enforcer. eeek, that word enforcer...police some are good some are crap. I've been naughty in my youth and in every dealing with the police I've been dealt fairly and with respect, amazing really, I was a right shit and didnt' deserve it. One of my friends is a policemen, he's a little arrogant and aloof, but, I think he needs to be, some of the shit he has to deal with and the drunks!!!! Drunks and violence.....not pretty!

Just riding bikes ... long hair ... scruffy looking ..

    Unjustified search for drugs ...

    Racist crap ...

Bullying (they once told my mate in the pub he was too drunk to ride .. he pointed at me and said "He's riding ..." They accepted that ... I was drunk as ..l. my mate was completely sober because he'd just walked in ... caught us just around the corner .. him on the front ... took keys ... "You're too drunk to ride" no breath test - no blood test ... no charges - just the hassle of pushing a bike about a mile to a safe lockup ... )

Searched several times while walking home at around 9pm in the evening ... minding my own business ... they never found anything

Stopped and questioned about my whereabouts three nights before .. two nights before .. where are you going now ... doing nothing except minding my own business ... let me go on my way .. just a hallse ...

Cop kicking my bike on the side of the road ... kicking the mufflers, kicking the side panels ...

Watched cops clear a house "the party's too noisey - everyone's leaving " .. including throwing one person across a porch rail, he sustained sever bruising to the kidney and spent time in hospital - when the house was cleared they asked to speak to the occupant .. and were then told "The person in the ambulance, the one you threw across the porch railings ..."

Jeez .. the list goes all the way back to the early 70s .. heaps of examples ..

So therein lies the conundrum. My story is the direct opposite of yours, so why is that? Why is it that two innocent people can have so different life stories? Why can you attract unjustified and undeserved prejudicial attention from the Police while I can have a dream run with not one incidence of undeserved harrasment? Why have I always been treated with respect from the Police and you haven't?
