Very true, each to their own, we are all different and what we love/like is very different to what Joe Blow down the road loves/likes.

Learn to appreciate our differences and have some respect for one another...

She was a beautiful young woman and this (I can't say accident for I believe it's not) tragedy could have been avoided if someone followed the rules of safety.

However. This has happened before, and it will happen again. People can debate the why's, where's, how's until the cows come home and nothing will change. You could ban guns, and still the same thing will happen, albeit with home made crossbows etc.

Idiots are everywhere, no amount of laws or regulation will ever control that. Even without idiots, smart people still make mistakes. And one day one of those idiots or mistakes may cross your path.

All we can take from this, is live your life to the best you can. Enjoy every minute you are alive. You never know when you'll draw your last breath.
    Well said.

    Gun is the generic term.
    A rifle has rifling
Pistol, pistol grip......note that hand "gun" covers this category.
Side arms.......have a guess where they stay?

Gun can cover anything from a tiny 0.5mm concealed watch pistol, to the rolling Gustav.

When was the last time you saw a gangster with a rifle? Terrorist with side-arm?
The public will see this as simply a gun. As they don't need to learn the in's and out's.

Id certainly have a go at helping someone to understand my passion, however this topic just seems to evoke angry evasive responses, which truly has me fucked.

Im far from a greenie, & you still havent helped me to understand whats so fun about killing shit.
    You got Anger from that????
A little disconcerting really and a very standard response from those greenie types.
"Shoot em up types", oh please! Get over yourself. Your not really interested in any response. all your interested in is pushing your greenie point of view at others. I can tell from your bitchy first quote.
not even bothered to go through this with you. I would for someone more genuine.

My quick answer would be...na, you have to be a hunter gatherer type to get it.....never mind.

    Thats my point exactly.
This fella doesn't want you to explain anyway, he just wants to force his point of view on the rest of us. End of story!

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions on the terminology, I was just voicing mine.
It's a bloody shame that woman was shot. Some call them accidents, I do not.
Without wanting to go off topic, if someone refers to a "press" in the workplace, that could mean a book, for pressing flowers, or a 250 tonne brake press for cutting/bending metal. If someone said "rest your arm on the press", ...........
    Get my angle?
Sympathies to the womans family, and friends.

    And still no explination.
Are you guys too embarresed to say what your motivation is for wanting to kill stuff?
Im not a greenie by a long shot & im not bitchy, im just fucked if i know what the buzz is & you arent helping me to get it at all.
Its always "get over yourself" "youre a hypocryte greenie" "your posts are too bitchy" Just give me a real fucking answer to a real fucking question. How fucking hard is it?
Case in point, the idiot that this thread was started about just wanted to kill whatever he saw that was moving, regardless of wether it was a deer, cow horse or pig.
As it turned out, it was a contributing member of society.
So what kind of buzz was he on to just kill some random living thing he had no idea what it was?
If it had have been an animal, what was fun about wasting it?
For crying down a bloody sink bench, can someone please fill me in here?

I respectfully disagree. I haven't shot at anything but paper for many years. I also fail to see the ''sport'' in hunting with firearms. To me that's like taking on a GN250 with a GSXR on a track. I have hunted for food a fair bit without a firearm. Yet it never occurred to me that I should see this as fun. Fun is something I don't associate with the taking of an innocent(as far as I'm concerned) life.To me it's always been something of an unpleasant occasion. And trust me, I'm no greenie.

Well I'm a shooter myself, of game and paper. I also participate in a number of other hobbies, interests, sports, etc. If people "get" what I do, that's fine, if they don't "get" it, that's fine too. I don't feel the need to justify or explain any of those hobbies, interests, sports, etc, to anyone.

People who lecture and demand and try to force their views upon others just come across as dicks. You're perfectly entitled to your views, and you've made them perfectly clear. It's about time you got off your soap box now though.

I agree, it's about time this thread returned to it's original topic.

My sympathies go to the innocent victim, her partner, and all those near and dear to her, but also to the family of the shooter as I'm sure life isn't too rosy for them either right now. As for the shooter - throw the book at him and lock him away for a long time.
