This is a tragic event, beyond that of which I can comprehend. To be the partner trying to keep her alive, and to have to live with that forever, a nightmare you'd wish on no-one. A tragedy for her friends, her family, her colleagues, and the children she taught and mentored at her school.

However. This has happened before, and it will happen again. People can debate the why's, where's, how's until the cows come home and nothing will change. You could ban guns, and still the same thing will happen, albeit with home made crossbows etc.

Idiots are everywhere, no amount of laws or regulation will ever control that. Even without idiots, smart people still make mistakes. And one day one of those idiots or mistakes may cross your path.

All we can take from this, is live your life to the best you can. Enjoy every minute you are alive. You never know when you'll draw your last breath.

Pistol, pistol grip......note that hand "gun" covers this category.
Side arms.......have a guess where they stay?


Gun can cover anything from a tiny 0.5mm concealed watch pistol, to the rolling Gustav.

When was the last time you saw a gangster with a rifle? Terrorist with side-arm?
The public will see this as simply a gun. As they don't need to learn the in's and out's.

It is a very normal part of life to most people who have lived off the land in some form or another.

I respectfully disagree. I haven't shot at anything but paper for many years. I also fail to see the ''sport'' in hunting with firearms. To me that's like taking on a GN250 with a GSXR on a track. I have hunted for food a fair bit without a firearm. Yet it never occurred to me that I should see this as fun. Fun is something I don't associate with the taking of an innocent(as far as I'm concerned) life.To me it's always been something of an unpleasant occasion. And trust me, I'm no greenie.

Well I'm a shooter myself, of game and paper. I also participate in a number of other hobbies, interests, sports, etc. If people "get" what I do, that's fine, if they don't "get" it, that's fine too. I don't feel the need to justify or explain any of those hobbies, interests, sports, etc, to anyone.

People who lecture and demand and try to force their views upon others just come across as dicks. You're perfectly entitled to your views, and you've made them perfectly clear. It's about time you got off your soap box now though.

My sympathies go to the innocent victim, her partner, and all those near and dear to her, but also to the family of the shooter as I'm sure life isn't too rosy for them either right now. As for the shooter - throw the book at him and lock him away for a long time.
