NZ cops are pretty good, I have had mostly nothing but good experiences dealing with the police. Very professional.

Dont envy them though, angry nutjobs seem to be on the increase.

I do think cracking down down on alcohol and promoting cannabis use would calm society and make their jobs easier. Imagine going to a domestic where Mr and Mrs Bleh are stoned....huh?

    Exactly.

NZ Police have a VERY high standard of integrity and if this officer is in fact guilty of what you are accusing then, his feet wouldn't even touch the floor on his way out the door.

But I bet the cop was an arsehole for calling him a liar...........?????????

Seemed like a nice bloke tho!

    I'd do the job.

I'd also get fired pretty damn quick too. I do not have the tolerance that some coppers have. I would end up beating some lil shit with a baton.

Plus another benefit is I could hassle all you bikers just for shits and giggles.

...And hassle StoneY for not doing a long enough wheelie!

In my limited experience and observation, there seem to be two broad groups of Police officer, that use two different approaches:

    1. The easy-going community spirited rule enforcer who will try to put you at ease, call you mate, tell you he's concerned for your safety, the safety of everyone else, and call you mate, and show interest in your story, and call you mate, and then book you.

    2. The blitzkrieg ram the lawbook down your throat, kick your arse, then book you and move on to the next victim.

Unfortunately neither of these approaches garner them any real respect, 1 comes across as false, insincere and untrustworthy, and 2 comes across as an asshole.

The rapists, thieves and perjurers in the force can fall into either camp.

As someone posted a while back, they lowered the standards in order to get more police, that speaks for itself.

I'm struck by the irony, that the police tell us not to complain if we speed then get a ticket, because we are speeding, and getting caught and ticketed is a natural consequence of that. Then they complain that they get no respect, when that is also a natural consequence of the behaviour that many see for themselves, and see reported in the media.

There was a saying in one of my past lives: "You can make me call you Sir, Sir but you still have to earn my respect."

None of this excuses the thugs for beating the cops in Hamilton though, that was totally disgusting and uncalled for. Somebody should have eaten some 9mm that night.

I'm calling bullshit on this. Soooo many cops let things slide...... every fricken day. Its called the attitude test.

I was once a passenger in my g/f car and she got pulled over doing 65-70 in a 50km/hr about 12 years ago. He really wanted to let her off, she was rattled and unpleasant, I was smiling and almost winking at the cop, he ticketed her because she was an unrepentant asshole to deal with. Major attitude fail.

I'm a landlord, have been for 25 years. Tenants often hate you, for no good reason except you have some authority over them, and they have to give you money. Some of my tenants needed a good batoning by god. Same with being a boss (except the boss gives you money, for your time).

Sure some are at fault, usually its just a mistake of judgement, but disliking another because of their authority over you is just immature and stupid. Bad dog. Why not be nice to those entrusted with defending us from angry crazies?

Some people need to pull their heads out of their asses.

    I Am The Great Sun

I am the great Sun, but you do not see me.
I am your Husband, but you turn away.
I am the Captive, but you do not free me.
I am the Captain you will not obey.
I am the Truth, but you will not believe me.
I am the City, where you will not stay.
I am your Wife, your Child, but you will leave me.
I am that God, to whom you will not pray.
I am your Counsel, but you do not hear me.
I am the Lover, whom you will betray.
I am the Victor, but you do not cheer me.
I am the Holy Dove, whom you will slay.
I am your Life, but you will not name me.
Seal up your soul with tears and never blame me.

Ok, thanks a lot for that. It helps. Really.

    Respect the police people!
Work on passing the attitude test, and you might be lucky and get a cop who remembers what life was like in 1998 and hasn't perfed out, instead of one of the new young thrusters with something to prove, a script to follow and a quota to fill.

I have had good and bad experiences - I have to say though, depends on the situation.
When I was with stupid idiotic boyfriends who were behaving badly, the treatment we got was not so nice, but still appropriate and legal.
When I have been on my own and (mostly) behaving then cops are great and very helpful.

We had the cops outside our house the other month as a party was out of control and they said we could detain any of the teenagers and use "reasonable" force. One said to me that yes I could reprimand the boys that were trying to steal my truck .

What an awesome sight a line of cops with shields and batons jogging past our house was! I loved the way the little smart arse shits ran and cried like babies - very tough when throwing rocks at a woman, but pussys when the cops get them!

Let that be a lesson to you young lady! Be more particular in future! Unfortunately finding a boy in your age group with a brain may be a difficult process.
