The ride was really good, I don't know how you other lot could handle cutting the ride in half like you did. Even if it did make it more enjoyable having less people on the ride.

Went home via Gebbies in Dyers. With a fogged up visor, fogged up glasses, in the fog, with a smokey car in front of me. Thought my bike was smoking until I spotted the lights ahead in the mist. Might be time to investigate some eyewear that doesn't fog.

Peeteey - sorry for not stopping at the Teddington side of Gebbies. Thought you were just messing with your camera, obviously something else was up?

The Hornet - thanks for the rest of your chips Really needed after that pizza.

    quality not quantity.

but I felt splitting the ride made it more manageable too, so we might as well do it where appropriate.

Also I hate to ruin it but damn it I can't contain it any longer. I am genuinely not responsible for the tags this season. I have no problem with them, since they're hilarious, but I promise it wasn't me.
the tags are awesome, and you do feature quite regularly in them don't you lol.
Everyone can add two tags to each thread, so anyone else can feel free to make this the most tag crazy thread ever

I do not think the fella who was on the 600 or 636 posts on here, but if he does then 'my bad' for running wide on one of the corners heading up dyers pass (in Cashmere area), I assume he/you were trying to pass me on the corner? on the outside of me that is, none of that undertaking rubbish.

Just going past the lytelton tunnel some copper pulled out in front of me and the fella from oxford on the cb1000 or cb1300, so was forced to follow him at 50k's for the early part of the bays and got well left behind.

I was hauling ass to catch up once he pulled over, but could not

most might have seen me revving my bikes tits off on the way to purau, (still thought i'd be able to catch up with gloplg and the rest of the summit road crew) and did not notice them coming towards me from purau, so got there and the fella on the big honda caught up and he and myself just went back to Chch from purau.

Was a great ride up on the summit road though, was awesome being above the cloud line/sea mist or whatever that was. Some pretty mint views

    See you all next week.

No worries, nothing too major, just my front brakes exploding! Click image for larger version.

Just after turning towards the hills at the Weacheaf, doing about 100km, felt a little jolt, saw something (my brake tube-thing it turns out) flying past my head at speed spewing liquid! Gingerly touched the front brakes to find a limp lever. Thanked my lucky stars it wasn't my wheel flying off!

In the attached pic, there should be two tubes coming out the top. The one still there is the input from the reservoir, the missing one goes up from the little stump on the right, over the top of the wheel (between it and the mud guard) to the brakes on the other side. That over-the-top tube is what came off.

Seems the tyre caught it and ripped it off in a frontwards motion. It's sheared off cleanly on both sides at the little stump bit so hopefully will be an easy fix for the shop tomorrow!

Sam, green Ninja 250 up from Queenstown, stopped and followed me home. Pottered along at about 40k, remembering that the front brake does 90% of all your braking and that the rear brake on the bmw is bad at best.

The real bugger is both Sam and I make vids for Youtube and neither of us had our cameras running! Buggery bollocks! I always miss the good shit!

All in all, nothing major, had a good giggle about it

Poor old bike, she doesn't like to appear anything less than indestructible so is feeling a little embarrassed

Man yes, it was really pretty, and coming into Lyttelton, the suns rays breaking through the cloud between the hilltops, just stunning.

And guess who captured NONE of it on camera because it was pointing at the bloody road????

I had the R6 clipping 240 at the end of the ruapuna straight when I thought my front brakes had failed, I went to start braking but it felt like there was nothing there, much like what you would've felt.

So I used the rear to chop the bike down from 240 to like 90 for the first corner haha.

I checked out my brakes on the back straight and they were sweet again, I looked them over and talked to a few guys and it cant have been brake fade, sure they were hot but they came back almost straight away, I think what happened it my hand slipped and didnt pull back hard enough....scared the shit out of me though lol

My reason for mentioning is that last year I was the one that released the kraken known as tags and got in trouble for it, and I'm sure to many came across as a self obsessed cock since most of them were self referential. Thus I wanted to play it safe and clear my name.

Holy cow! Hope you manage to get it sorted! Although almost leaving your bag behind at the carpark wasn't a good sign

great ride. i enjoyed the summit road last night, not always the case with the cyclists sheep runners campervans diesel, and road conditions not always ideal (but its not Ruapuna though is it) - and round the bays - the odd road works here and there but signs were up.
interesting things happen above 10,000 rpm.....not if you have a ZRX tho

Thanks for that KiwiPhoenix. Glad to see that you got yourself some wheels. Yep, NZ is a small place, especially since we are probably more mobile than many countries. Also, the older we get the faster things go. Here is some proof: A recent pic from the heads-up display in a German police car following a "young fella" on a Hayabusa....
