They did some initial costings back in 2008 and it was in the order of $800 million for a full tunnel solution so it's cheaper to take some of the kinks out of the road.

Pretty bloody cheap compared to Sandhills/transmission gully highway or the Orewa holiday highway.

And taking out 3 corners on the Taka's at a cost of 10's of millions is not even close to a partial solution for that road period!
The (dis)honorable Nick Smith, when you speak all I can hear is
BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!!
So please fuck off and die.

Why don't we follow the same idea as the Eurotunnel and run a train back and forth which takes cars, trucks and campers through the train tunnel?
Drive you car onto the train, remain seated in the car, 15 minutes later you're on the other side and drive off.
Leaves the hill for motorcycles only

A hug from you and Katiepie was VERY nice!!

The hug I got from Jimmy crossed a few boundaries, though. It came with optional extra bum-grope.....

Going up to the MotoTT day the following week with a mate who's just bought a race bike/trackday bike. Sadly they've only got room in the fast group... if I take the Blade at least part of the combo will look like it belongs there...

I could do Sunday in the 'Rapa. Where did you get to Carla?

mmmm... was thinking of a wee ride myself - but my dogs escaped today when i left the property - it seems I haven't done a good enough job with the fencing, so will need to stay here and keep going. When I leave, they try to follow. Oh its nice to be so loved.

They can be cunning little buggars eh.
Our youngest dog has learned he can climb a 1.5 mtr gate (he could jump it too if he really wanted too, he nearly clears the 1.8 mtr fence between us and the neighbours to get to their dog). So I had to put a backwards overhang on the gate so he can't climb up it.
The oldest dog leans with all her weight on fences to see if she can force a hole big enough to escape from.

But am I riding this weekend? Not sure yet. Might go to the 4x4 trials in Whitemans Valley tomorrow.
