Left handside seemed pretty ok. The pine needle road over the river had a few slips but thats all really.

    Maunga-feckin-tapu baby

That was one of the best times I've had in there ever!

The summit rope has bee pulled out again but it must have been before the last big rain because no 4wd is getting up to the summit from the Pelorus side

Cleared some big branches off the track on the Nelson side and that first rough bit on the way down 'tother side...

Where it's a bit rough and there's that slip off to the left?

It has a metre deep and 1.5m wide rain rut through it that's totally exposed the fibre optic cable.

If your bike went in, it wasn't coming out in a hurry...

The left hand side was the only way past and it was ...difficult... as on the right was a 1m drop onto large rocks etc and on the left was a 30m drop onto umm... trees...

You're left with a 40cm wide bit to get a bike across...

The right side is also undercut a bit...

    Took several sweaty minutes...

Took 45min to make the rain rut traversable by moving up to rocks around (up to 50kg buggers), bashing sides down etc otherwise I'd have been going out via the Rai.

A hunter told me there was a slip by Murderers Rock but that bikes would have no problems.

Who's coming for an ice cream at Pelorus with me tomorrow

So it looks like it'llbe shut for a while longer. Got family day today however the thought of dropping the bike down deep holes & potentially breaking bones is somewhat appealing

When is that ever not appealing?

Not riding today, but plan on spending time in the shed turning big red back into an adv bike from its current state as a race weapon.

Would it be really wanky to leave the numbers on for the dusty butt?
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

I realised yesterday I'll either have to paint mine out or sand them off (got the scrylics instead of poster paints)

My "art" came off with the hose. But they were straight onto plastic.

You'll have to choose a different colour undercoat so you can tell the two beasts apart.
    Cheers,

Depends. Are you taking the heavy, medium or light bike?

Monday isn't good but Tuesday afternoon looks OK at the moment.

That is a most excellent ride at the moment

Everyone needs to do it at least once before it gets "fixed".

It may seem a bit much going over and you may want to come back via the Rai but it really is easier coming back.

    DB ride from Nelson

I've started thinkng about getting down to the DB next week.

    Anyone else have any plans?

I was thinkin of heading down Thurs lunchtime via Rainbow - fkcu just had a fly in my mouth from my nice cuppa of Caro - It was just getting to the bottom of the cup too where it gets thicker & flavoursome

Anyway sorry back to the ride down. Via Rainbow to Hamner then CHCh to stay at broinlaws. Join in the ride via whatever gorge place & business as usual.

I'm taking a cabin with JMJ on Sunday nite at the top 10 then prob head back Monday possiby via Molesworth if I'm not too knackerered.

Nothings set in concrete yet - just floating ideas around at the mo.
